On the train ride to the city, I had Taylor Swift’s song Welcome to New York stuck in my head. Seriously, that song is my anthem. For all of you who don’t know, I love New York City. I love the culture, the shopping, and all the possibilities the city has to offer. I hope within the next couple of years, I can call New York City my home. But for now, I take frequent trips to the city that never sleeps.
Last week I was on spring break. It was nice to take a break from college life and spend the week at home, catching up on sleep, relaxing, and working on my blog. One day, I was feeling adventurous and creative, so I hopped on the train and journeyed to New York City. I was determined to take tons of photos for my blog. As always, the streets of New York inspired me and I captured some great shots for this post.
On to my outfit, I refuse to wear my winter coat anymore. I officially retired my coat for the season, despite the weather still being on the chilly side, but once it reached 40 degrees consistently this week, I am so over my bulky winter coat.
On the day I traveled to the city, it was sunny with temperatures in the high 40s. I am always cold so I had to make sure I wore several layers if I wasn’t wearing my coat. My secret was instead of wearing a lightweight long sleeve shirt under my fringe loose fitting sweater, I wore a solid cable knit sweater underneath. This sweater did the trick and I was not cold at all while walking the streets of New York City.
The focus of my outfit was my fringe sweater. Fringe is a popular trend for spring. No matter what store I go into, I always see fringe sweaters, fringe tops, or even fringe bags. I embraced this trend with my Forever 21 cream and black tribal print sweater with fringe detailing on the bottom. Black leggings go with everything, but instead of wearing a simple pair of cotton leggings, I chose to wear my Cotton On leggings in the color washed black. I love how these leggings have a panel detail at the knee, making these leggings more dressy and less boring. Another star of my outfit was my metallic pewter booties. Not only are these boots so unique and stylish but I also found them at Marshalls for only $14. What a steal! These boots will be my go-to for spring, considering they will go with pretty much anything. As always, I kept my jewelry simple with a long Brandy Melville necklace that goes with the black and gold theme of my outfit. To bring some color into my look, I chose turquoise stud earrings.
The city never fails to impress me. Until my next visit, New York City stay fabulous.
