People seem to be obsessed with all things fantasy these days, from unicorns to mermaids.  So today’s post will feature the oh so popular mermaid makeup look trend.  Since this look is so fun and colorful, it will be perfect for the upcoming festival season.  If you want to nail the mermaid makeup look, then this is the guide for you, so keep on reading.   Focus On A Flawless Base (image source) Mermaids have a flawless base, always.  Well, we don’t know that for sure, but a flawless base is still going to help you rock this look.  Make sure you start with a good primer, foundation, and then conceal under your eyes and any other blemishes.  Tip: using a wet blending sponge is a good way to get a flawless, sheer finish. Get Your Shimmer On (image source) Mermaids are always beautiful and shimmery, so highlighter is huge for this look.  Give yourself a generous sweep of your favorite highlighter over your cheekbones, and down the center of your nose.  To really up your highlighter game, don’t be afraid to put a small amount of highlighter under the arch of your brow.  So flattering! It’s crazy to think that we are already 19 days into the New Year.  Anyway, I was so overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received from my Fashion Trends That Need To Go In 2017 post (if you haven’t read it yet, click here).  After reading all your interesting comments, I decided to write a similar post, this time reflecting on the outrageous beauty trends in 2016 that I hope won’t roll over into 2017.  I know 2016 is now in the past and we should be moving forward, but I can’t help to point out the beauty trends in 2016 that in my opinion were far from glamorous.  Keep on reading for the beauty trends that need to go in 2017. 100 layers challenge          Please tell me you have seen the 100 layers challenge videos on YouTube.  You know, the videos where someone proceeds to layer on absurd amounts of makeup on their face, eyes, lips, and nails.  If you have no idea what I am talking about check out Jenna Marbles 100 layers challenge video.  After watching her apply layers of false eyelashes, tanner, nail polish, foundation, lip color, and hair spray you will be left shocked.…

For my look, I was channeling my inner Kim K with a tight pencil skirt and body suit. Since it was a nighttime event, I chose dark colors and pops of sparkle.  My H&M pencil skirt had just the right amount of glam, especially with that slit down the side. My new obsession this season is bodysuits, they are so easy to wear and style.  I kept it simple with a black body suit from Forever 21. Since it was low cut, I wanted to accessorize to the max. I love my choker and necklace set from Apricot Lane, along with my silver coin earrings also from Apricot Lane. Finally, a big shout out to my amazing roommate Mckenzi for letting me borrow her black platform heels from H&M.  They totally…
