People seem to be obsessed with all things fantasy these days, from unicorns to mermaids.  So today’s post will feature the oh so popular mermaid makeup look trend.  Since this look is so fun and colorful, it will be perfect for the upcoming festival season.  If you want to nail the mermaid makeup look, then this is the guide for you, so keep on reading.   Focus On A Flawless Base (image source) Mermaids have a flawless base, always.  Well, we don’t know that for sure, but a flawless base is still going to help you rock this look.  Make sure you start with a good primer, foundation, and then conceal under your eyes and any other blemishes.  Tip: using a wet blending sponge is a good way to get a flawless, sheer finish. Get Your Shimmer On (image source) Mermaids are always beautiful and shimmery, so highlighter is huge for this look.  Give yourself a generous sweep of your favorite highlighter over your cheekbones, and down the center of your nose.  To really up your highlighter game, don’t be afraid to put a small amount of highlighter under the arch of your brow.  So flattering! It’s crazy to think that we are already 19 days into the New Year.  Anyway, I was so overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received from my Fashion Trends That Need To Go In 2017 post (if you haven’t read it yet, click here).  After reading all your interesting comments, I decided to write a similar post, this time reflecting on the outrageous beauty trends in 2016 that I hope won’t roll over into 2017.  I know 2016 is now in the past and we should be moving forward, but I can’t help to point out the beauty trends in 2016 that in my opinion were far from glamorous.  Keep on reading for the beauty trends that need to go in 2017. 100 layers challenge          Please tell me you have seen the 100 layers challenge videos on YouTube.  You know, the videos where someone proceeds to layer on absurd amounts of makeup on their face, eyes, lips, and nails.  If you have no idea what I am talking about check out Jenna Marbles 100 layers challenge video.  After watching her apply layers of false eyelashes, tanner, nail polish, foundation, lip color, and hair spray you will be left shocked.…

Happy New Year! Here’s to an amazing 2017.  But before I can cheer the new year and start discovering new and popular fashion trends for 2017, I think it’s a good idea to take some time to reflect on the trends, that in my opinion, need to vanish in the new year.  We all have different opinions and some of the trends that I mention you might totally love, but that’s the fun of fashion, everyone has their different styles.  You won’t catch me wearing any of the styles mentioned below or if I have, they will no longer be taking up anymore space in my closet.  Keep on reading to find out which trends that were oh so popular in 2016, I hope will vanish in 2017. Emoji Don’t get me wrong, I love my cartoon patches on my denim jacket or sneakers, but I really only like the generic symbols like a heart, peace sign, and so on.  What I am talking about is the emoji on your phone like the dancing girl, the devilish twins, the sassy lady, the laughing face, and more.  The emojis you use when texting your best friend or when you are lost…

Dear 2015, Thanks for an amazing year. A year filled with ups and downs. A year filled with successes and fails. A year filled with challenges. But most importantly a year filled with lessons. I am very hopeful for 2016, but before I enter into the new year, I want to reflect on 2015 and what I learned. 1. The long walks to class have always been my time to think and to admire the beauty of my campus. When the fall season arrived, I remember taking time to look at the changing leaves, to admire the rich, bold colors and to start appreciating the little things. Acknowledge your inner beauty This has always been a challenge of mine, but in 2015 I…
