It’s about time the sun has peaked out from behind the clouds.  Although, still on the chilly side, the bright sunny days have inspired me to wear some of my new, favorite daytime dresses.  Nothing is better than those days where you can just throw on a dress rather than worry about wearing jeans and finding a matching top.  Dresses like the one in today’s post are the best because they act as a blank slate, meaning you can wear pretty much whatever you want with the dress to capture your own personal style.  Keep on reading to see how I transform a basic dress into one stylish look with only a few pieces.          So the formula for a simple, yet stylish outfit is a no brainer. First start with a basic piece.  In my case, I chose to wear my favorite new dress from Tobi.com.  This dress is described as the perfect “day dress,” and I totally agree.  This dress with a subtle olive colored tie-dye pattern and the ruffle overlay is perfect to wear to any day event.  Think graduation parties, summer barbeques, pool parties and much more.  The ways to style this dress are endless.…

People seem to be obsessed with all things fantasy these days, from unicorns to mermaids.  So today’s post will feature the oh so popular mermaid makeup look trend.  Since this look is so fun and colorful, it will be perfect for the upcoming festival season.  If you want to nail the mermaid makeup look, then this is the guide for you, so keep on reading.   Focus On A Flawless Base (image source) Mermaids have a flawless base, always.  Well, we don’t know that for sure, but a flawless base is still going to help you rock this look.  Make sure you start with a good primer, foundation, and then conceal under your eyes and any other blemishes.  Tip: using a wet blending sponge is a good way to get a flawless, sheer finish. Get Your Shimmer On (image source) Mermaids are always beautiful and shimmery, so highlighter is huge for this look.  Give yourself a generous sweep of your favorite highlighter over your cheekbones, and down the center of your nose.  To really up your highlighter game, don’t be afraid to put a small amount of highlighter under the arch of your brow.  So flattering! Choose The Right Colors…

It’s crazy to think that we are already 19 days into the New Year.  Anyway, I was so overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received from my Fashion Trends That Need To Go In 2017 post (if you haven’t read it yet, click here).  After reading all your interesting comments, I decided to write a similar post, this time reflecting on the outrageous beauty trends in 2016 that I hope won’t roll over into 2017.  I know 2016 is now in the past and we should be moving forward, but I can’t help to point out the beauty trends in 2016 that in my opinion were far from glamorous.  Keep on reading for the beauty trends that need to go in 2017. 100 layers challenge          Please tell me you have seen the 100 layers challenge videos on YouTube.  You know, the videos where someone proceeds to layer on absurd amounts of makeup on their face, eyes, lips, and nails.  If you have no idea what I am talking about check out Jenna Marbles 100 layers challenge video.  After watching her apply layers of false eyelashes, tanner, nail polish, foundation, lip color, and hair spray you will be left shocked.…

Happy New Year! Here’s to an amazing 2017.  But before I can cheer the new year and start discovering new and popular fashion trends for 2017, I think it’s a good idea to take some time to reflect on the trends, that in my opinion, need to vanish in the new year.  We all have different opinions and some of the trends that I mention you might totally love, but that’s the fun of fashion, everyone has their different styles.  You won’t catch me wearing any of the styles mentioned below or if I have, they will no longer be taking up anymore space in my closet.  Keep on reading to find out which trends that were oh so popular in 2016, I hope will vanish in 2017. Emoji Don’t get me wrong, I love my cartoon patches on my denim jacket or sneakers, but I really only like the generic symbols like a heart, peace sign, and so on.  What I am talking about is the emoji on your phone like the dancing girl, the devilish twins, the sassy lady, the laughing face, and more.  The emojis you use when texting your best friend or when you are lost…

When I was busy slaving over final papers and studying for final exams, some of my favorite celebrities and a bunch of famous people strutted their stuff on the red carpet at the annual Met Gala. Officially called the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, the Met Gala is the party of the year. When will it be my turn to receive a ticket to one of the hottest events in New York City? For now, I just get to admire everyone’s outfit through a computer screen and comment on the looks that took my breath away.             This year’s theme was inspired by the fashion exhibit Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. This exhibit features fashion designers work that blends handmade and machine-made fashion. Each year, the Met Gala features a unique theme and guests are urged to showcase the theme in their elaborate outfits. Since this year’s theme focused on the future, I wasn’t shocked to see tons of metallic sequins, and just out of the ordinary looks. There were more best-dressed than worst dressed stars because I believe the Met Gala is the perfect time to take fashion risks. So keep on reading…
