Loving Leopard

Chattering teeth, runny nose, rosy cheeks, numb fingers, and wind blown hair, is the norm for me while trying to take photos outside during the winter months.  Sure, most of my photos (well at least I hope) look somewhat decent, but taking photos in the frigid temperatures is anything but glamorous.  In between takes you will find me bundled up in a heavy coat and googling the nearest cafe where I can just warm up for a bit before bearing the cold again.  I could just be smart and wear my winter coat while taking photos but how lame would that be if all my blog posts in the winter just featured the same coat covering up my outfit?  Luckily, in today’s post I was able to explore Brooklyn and the beautiful scenery as well as wear some of my most recent purchases from the Zara sale to keep my (very cold) spirits high.

Just like every Zara sale in the past, I went a little more crazy this time around. I can’t help it especially when I live right across the street from one.  Anyway, as you know, my favorite print aside from floral is leopard print, so of course I had to add this sparkly leopard maxi skirt to my collection.  I love how this skirt has the ability to be less dressy by adding the right accessories, like this graphic oversized sweatshirt also from Zara.  What’s best about this top is that if you look closer it has a meaningful message (“dream fearlessly”) and a pop of animal print, which is always a plus.

But back to the skirt, I can’t tell you how much I have been wearing this skirt either with that sweatshirt or with of course a leather jacket for a more edgy look or a jean jacket for an even more casual look.

For the bottom half of my outfit, I added a pair of sheer tights under my skirt and these heeled black booties from Forever 21.

No shocker here, but I’m still obsessing over the statement earring trend, so I’m wearing these gold dangling earrings that feature these beautiful star and moon charms from the brand Design Lab sold at Lord and Taylor’s.

Well, there you have it folks, another style post where, if you zoom into some of the photos, you will find me attempting to conceal my anger towards the winter season. If any fellow bloggers are reading this, let me know in the comments below what are your tips and tricks for shooting in the colder months.  Until then, here’s to other arctic blast hitting us soon and more attempted photoshoots in the winter weather.

Sparkle On

Although the holidays have quickly come and gone, Christmas decorations are slowly coming down, Santa has already slid down our chimneys (well only if you were good this year), but it doesn’t mean its time to put away the glitz and glam just yet.  In my fashion rule book, sparkles can be worn any day, any time, and any season.  I love finding subtle ways to incorporate some shine and sparkle into any outfit and today’s outfit perfectly achieves that look.  So keep on scrolling to see how I’m leaving a little sparkle behind everywhere I go.

I feel like I have talked up all the glitter and sparkle in today’s outfit, but really the sparkle is just coming from my H&M sweater, but this sweater has the right amount of twinkle.  Plus, this sweater is not itchy like other glitter sweaters I have worn in the past, which is very important because who wants to spend their whole day scratching an endless itch.   Also, I love the silver metallic shade of this sweater because it looks great paired with denim, which brings me to my next point.

What’s a Liv’s style post without a pair of Zara jeans?  So today I am wearing my distressed boyfriend jeans from Zara. I love adding loose fitting, relaxed denim to any outfit to dress it down.

Even though, the sweater certainly makes a statement on it’s own, I threw on my favorite black faux fur vest from Macy’s.  Especially, in the winter time you can never have enough layers.  Not to mention the faux fur and glitter combo looks amazing together, don’t you agree?

My hunt for the perfect pair of black booties concluded after finding these sparkly star printed Kenneth Cole booties at Marshalls.  Although, my hunt might begin again because I’ve been wearing this booties non stop, I think I am going to have to replace them soon.

For jewelry, I am just wearing my go-to silver spiked pendant necklace from Forever 21.  Now that I think of it, I wore this necklace with another faux fur vest outfit here.  What can I say when I like something I wear it constantly, just like this outfit.

Forget the phrase keep calm and carry on, now it’s all about keep calm and sparkle on.   And with a new year quickly approaching, there is no better time to wear some sparkles.

Boho Chic + Link Up

IMG_2305 1

Boho chic is defined as a type of style being influenced by bohemian and hippie looks. Think floral prints, warm colors, fringe, round sunglasses, flowing pants and skirts, and so on. Look to celebs like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Vanessa Hudgens, and Nicole Richie for inspiration.

I am so excited to be the co-host of Michelle (Michelle’s Pa(i)ge) and Ana’s (Northwest Blonde) weekly link up post. It’s an honor to be part of this fun theme because it is so me. I love the boho style and these ladies certainly know how to dress, so make sure to check them out.

I always feel fashion forward when I wear flared pants, especially with a wild and colorful pattern. I have to admit, I always feel like people on the street are going to mistaken these pants for pajamas, but then I think these are way to stylish to be pajamas. I love my flowing pants from Target, especially the bold print and colors. I feel like any hippie would be caught wearing these pants because they are comfy, trendy, and perfect for any free spirit.

I kept the top simple because what could compete with these pants. I am wearing just a basic white tank from Forever 21. Since the weather is still not warm enough to expose bare shoulders, I decided to wear my favorite light, crochet cardigan from Apricot Lane. In my opinion, every boho look needs a little crochet.

Whenever I wear flared pants, I like to wear a sandal that has a little wedge to them to give me a little extra height and also to keep my pants from dragging on the ground. For shoes, I looked no further than to my lace up wedge sandals from Call it Spring.

Lastly for accessories, I had to wear my favorite Forever 21 gold elephant pendant necklace (no shock there). Also no boho outfit is complete without your favorite pair of round sunglasses. My Forever 21 round sunglasses were certainly the icing on my (boho) cake. Who else thinks I am ready to hit Coachella next year? California here I come.

Christmas Is In The Air

IMG_1537 1

On Christmas morning, I woke up to a Christmas tree surrounded by gifts and the love from my dad, mom, sister, and of course my puppy brother Griffin. That morning, my family and I exchanged gifts, but most importantly we exchanged laughter and love.

Christmas day is pretty low key. Ever since I could remember, Christmas day has always been hosted at my house. I am so lucky that my family all lives so close, so we can all celebrate the joyous day together. Although, I was in the comfort of my own home, I still took the opportunity to showcase my love for fashion and dress up; after all it is Christmas.

IMG_1547

Instead of the classic little black dress, I decided to switch it up and wear an olive colored dress. I bought this dress featuring a skater silhouette from Forever 21 last week and I have already worn it a couple times. Layer it with a sweater, a vest, and so on and you have one complete and stylish outfit.

IMG_1584

In my opinion, there are two essentials for the holiday season, faux fur and sparkles. I am saving the sparkles for New Years Eve, but for Christmas I decided to break out my favorite faux fur vest. My black faux fur vest is from Macy’s and matches perfectly with my deep green colored dress. My vest makes my outfit more dressed up and of course more chic.

To dress up my look ever more, I decided to bust out my favorite heeled combat boots from Marshalls. You know the ones I featured in my last style post? But if you don’t remember check out my previous post here.

Although, I feel like my faux fur vest completes my outfit, I thought my look needed one more accessory. Lastly, to tie together the black and brown in my outfit I wore my long statement necklace from Forever 21. This necklace features a gold etched half circle pendant and black colored gems, perfectly matching all the shades featured in my look.

I hope everyone had a great holiday. For me, Christmas 2015 was a success because it was a day filled with joy, love, and happiness. My favorite gifts included a new winter coat, Steve Madden heeled booties, another faux fur vest, tons of coloring books, and gift cards.

I know these next few weeks will be filled with putting together new outfits and of course featuring them on my blog. Thank you for all the sweet comments and support. Without my readers, LivForStyle would not exist. Only a few more days left in 2015, remember to make the best out of the remaining days.
