Meet Christina: Her Experience at The Makeup Show NYC

It wasn’t until rooming with Liv this past year that I began to gain more interest in the world of makeup. Whether getting ready in the morning for class or getting ready to go out on a Friday night, I am always calling Liv over for her beauty and fashion advice. Living with a beauty, fashion, and lifestyle blogger can be summed up in two words: personal stylist. I could not be more grateful for all of the makeup and fashion assistance Liv provides me with.

It was an honor getting the chance to attend The Makeup Show in New York City this past weekend with Liv. With makeup artists and beauty experts crowding the aisles, this show was unlike anything I could have imagined. It was truly an experience I will never forget. Beauty experts from various companies were not only welcoming, but also extremely helpful when answering all of my amateur questions.

From eye shadows to fake lashes, there was something to cater to anyone’s beauty needs. At first I took in my surroundings, and eventually I felt like somewhat of a pro as I swatched eyeliners and shadows on my hand. This was the first time I ventured out of my drugstore makeup comfort zone and tested professional brands originating from all different countries around the world.

IMG_8524Although I wasn’t as adventurous as Liv, experimenting with glitter eye shadows, I instead picked out an assortment of neutral colored eye shadows and liners that Liv matched to my “warm complexion”. After countless hours of going from one stand to the next, I left satisfied with a shopping bag in hand from MAC, Inglot, and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

For this event, I had to dress to impress. I chose to wear a floral patterned romper with comfortable black, strapped sandals and silver hoop earrings. With my winter coat packed away for good this year, I dared to expose my pale legs to the perfectly warm 75-degree weather. I put this outfit together myself specifically for the event, and I am proud to say that it was Liv approved.

Although we had a fun and carefree day in the city, Liv and I did run into some difficulties when having to break away from the show to go to the bathroom. Both wearing rompers, we soon realized that going to the bathroom was not as easy as we thought, therefore designating one another to be each other’s romper “un-zipperer” for the day.

As a recent addition to the LivForStyle team, I am already having a blast. I have the unique opportunity to transition my love for photography into capturing photos for Liv’s blog. I look forward to exploring different areas where we can hold more photo-shoots. I cannot wait to take on NYC and The Makeup Show sometime again soon with my partner in crime, Liv.
