Twinkle, Twinkle Little Stars
Who else is totally gushing over the star print trend this year? I mean how beautiful was Emma Stone’s Valentino blush colored dress she wore at the Golden Globes a couple of weeks ago. I loved how the dress included a sparkly star pattern. She really looked like a star (no pun intended). Emma Stone as well as other celebrities and bloggers have really inspired me to add more of the star print to my collection. Keep on reading to see how I style one of my new favorite pieces that follows that star trend and will have you shining like a star (too cheesy?).
All eyes are on my long black tunic with the beautiful metallic star print from online shop, Zaful. I love heading over to Zaful because you will always find the best prices on the most stylish and trendiest pieces. Every time I wear my Zaful tunic, everyone is always confused whether it is a top or a dress. It is long enough to be a dress, but since the sides of the shirt features extremely high slits, I like to style it more like a shirt by wearing my favorite leggings or opaque tights.
My favorite thing to wear with my tunic is my pair of leather leggings from Target. I have been living in these leggings all winter because they are so stylish and definitely add that edgy vibe to any look. I totally want to add more leggings like this in my wardrobe, so suggestions on where to find the perfect leather legging are greatly appreciated.
Of course, what is a LivForStyle outfit without a faux fur vest? So naturally, I layered my favorite black fur vest from Macy’s over my top for an extra pop of glam.
Since my whole outfit has a lot going on, I decided to keep my accessories simple and just wore a choker from Apricot Lane. The simple suede cord makes for the perfect choker without drawing too much attention away from the star print.
Lastly, my black booties are by the brand Material Girl. You can’t go wrong with a pair of booties that add some extra height and finishes off any look.
I have been getting so much use out of my Zaful tunic, especially for a night out with my friends. However, don’t let the dark color palette make you think this outfit is only for the night. You can always throw on a pair of light colored skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans to lighten up this look. Either way, in my opinion this tunic and more specifically the star pattern will never go out of style. Talk to you all soon!
Post Holiday Glam
The post holiday depression has officially set in. Walking through Bryant Park in NYC each day, I see what use to be the holiday shopping village now vacant. I watch stores take down their holiday window decorations, but I refuse to put away my glitz and glam from the holiday season. Keep on reading to see how to incorporate sparkle in your everyday look even when the holidays are over.
My favorite way to keep the glam in the dreary winter months is to add sparkle in subtle ways, which is why I love my plaid button up with the pops of gold sparkle from GlitterBuzzStyle Boutique. The sparkle on the pocket and the back turns this shirt from ordinary to extraordinary. Check out http://www.glitterbuzzstyleboutique.com for more fashionable finds.
Since I mentioned how cold the winter can get I just layered a thin white sweater from Old Navy under my blouse. I always look for ways to add more warmth to any of my outfits because I am miserable when I’m cold.
As for jeans I’m wearing my new super flared jeans from Madewell. This is not just your typical skinny jean, but the flared detail totally steps up your fashion game. Not to mention the raw edge detail on the cuff is so in style.
For boots I’m wearing my suede ankle booties by Report. I love how these booties are a little higher than my typical booties and the taupe color with silver embellishments totally makes these perfect for any winter time look.
How cool is my bracelet? Again my bracelet is from the fabulous GlitterBuzzStyle Boutique. It resembles a belt, but instead of wearing it on your waist it’s for your wrist. Because of the cool design and color I had to make it the star of my outfit.
To look on the bright side I guess as each cold, winter day passes we are getting closer to longer, warm and sunny days. But until then use fashion to add a little sparkle into your life.
It’s the final stretch! Two final papers handed in and just three final exams to take and my first semester of senior year is OVER! What the heck? Where did time go? It feels like yesterday I was the timid freshman on campus and now I am a big shot senior. Putting all that aside, I decided to put down my philosophy notes for a bit and write a new post for you all.
So for today’s post I am switching things up a little bit and first going to talk about my infamous Charming Charlie Good Vibes necklace that has made many appearances on my blog. In fact, this is one of my favorite necklaces so I had to dedicate the title of this blog post to the influential message behind the necklace. The saying “Good Vibes” has been my motto for this past week, especially when I have been bombarded with exams and assignments, but it also has become my motto throughout this semester and continuing onto the next. I am a big believer that your attitude determines your experiences, so I am making sure I spread those good vibes throughout my last year of college to ensure I fully enjoy senior year and continue to spread those good vibes in my upcoming adventures after graduation. I promise when you change your attitude and at least try to be positive, because let’s face it, some days it is harder than others to remain positive, you will see all that the world has to offer you. Ok, enough with motivational Liv, back to LivForStyle.
When any outfit needs a little more pizazz, throw on a faux fur vest to instantly transform your outfit. My white faux fur vest from Cotton On totally makes my simple, hunter green Forever 21 sweater a little more stylish. I love the deep green shade of the sweater contrasted with the frost white color of my vest.
As you all know, I am very into the half tuck look, just to give any outfit a little more shape and definition, so I tucked in my sweater a “messy” way into my new favorite pair of distressed skinny jeans from Zara. If you are looking for a place to buy a new pair of jeans to add to your denim collection, I highly recommend Zara. At Zara you will find a variety of styles, washes, and fits.
Of course, on one of my recent shopping trips to Marshalls, when I was suppose to be Christmas shopping for others, I found these perfect taupe color booties from the brand Blowfish. Such a simple and versatile bootie, it was a must buy.
Oops, can’t forget about the other necklace I am wearing that goes perfectly with the “Good Vibes” necklace. I love layering a shorter, delicate necklace with a longer statement necklace. So I decided to pair my Charming Charlie necklace with this far from boring Forever 21 necklace. Layering necklaces is the perfect way to incorporate two of your favorite pieces into one outfit.
Only one more semester until graduation and this girl will enter the working world. I am not sure what the future holds, all I can wrap my brain around is the fact that I have so much studying to do and Christmas is in 8 days and I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet. Are there any last minute shoppers out there like me? Let me know in the comments below to ease my anxiety. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. See you all next time!

Usually the expression is “Flannel Friday”, but I could not wait until Friday to upload this style post. It seems like time is flying by. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday came and went and now the holiday season is in full force. Although this is suppose to be a joyful time, for us college students it is such a stressful time filled with final papers and finals exams, but I am trying my best to plan some fun Holiday posts (suggestions are much appreciated).
Today’s outfit features my favorite flannel, lots of layers, and booties, which is the recipe for a perfect fall/winter outfit. My oversized flannel shirt from Madewell is the perfect piece to have in your wardrobe this season. The perfect plaid pattern and the oversized fit makes this flannel the best for layering.
Speaking of layering, we have now entered the season (well at least on the East Coast) where you can’t go outside just wearing your favorite blouse. In order to prevent freezing your butt off, one must layer, and I mean lots of layering. My shearling vest not only keeps me cozy and warm, but this vest from Apricot Lane earned major style points especially when paired with flannel. If you are looking to invest in one good piece this season, I highly recommend a shearling vest. You won’t regret it!
As for denim, I stuck to my favorite pair of distressed boyfriend jeans from Madewell. I’m all about the relaxed denim fit this season because sometimes skinny jeans can just be annoying and uncomfortable, who else agrees?
You should see my bootie collection, it is forever growing, but I’m not complaining because I have so many amazing boots to style. Today, I am wearing my light taupe suede booties from Material Girl. Such a simple bootie that goes with pretty much any outfit.
Finally for accessories, I am wearing a choker from Forever 21. It’s the type of necklace that goes so well with flannel and my vest. Plus, you can never go wrong with a choker.
Although, as I write this post it’s pouring rain outside, the last couple of days have been super sunny. It seems like when we set the clocks back, the sun gets lower and lower, so a pair of sunglasses, like my pair from Forever 21, is a must especially in the later afternoon.
Now that Thanksgiving is in the past, it seems like everyone has switched from a pumpkin spice mood to all things peppermint. Tis the season for holiday fashion, shopping, gift giving, decorating and spreading that holiday cheer. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying the start of the holiday season. Talk to you all soon!

The “It” Denim
While browsing one my favorite fashion blogs, Who What Wear, I stumbled across an interesting article about denim. According to Who What Wear, on average, today’s woman owns seven pairs of jeans? To an average person, 7 pairs of jeans sounds like a lot, but I’ll bet fashion bloggers and fashion lovers, like me can agree that we own more than 7 pairs of jeans. I blame the changing trends each season. Remember when skinny jeans were the huge trend, now it is all about flared jeans and relaxed fits. Hence, why my denim collection has grown tremendously. In this style post, I’ll be showcasing one of my favorite pairs of jeans this season with a totally unique fit, blending the skinny, boot cut, and flared style.
Meet the Cali Demi Boot by Madewell. This fit features a high waisted design, for a lean and stylish look, as well as a mini-flare look at the bottom, to show off your favorite booties, heels, or flats. For those who are not yet ready to abandon your skinny jeans and fully embrace the flared jean trend, the Cali Demi Boot is perfect for you because it has a slight flare, while keeping that skinny silhouette. I love my pair of Cali Demi Boot jeans in this “off black” color (not a true black, but not as light as a gray).
In my opinion, you can pair this “off black” shade with pretty much any color, but you can’t go wrong with a white blouse. I chose to wear my white button up blouse with a beautiful, delicate embroidered detail by Fashion Mia. Of course, I did my half tuck trick, to give more shape to this oversized blouse and highlight the jeans high waist.
I felt my outfit was missing something so when in doubt a fringed vest will complete any outfit. My suede vest is from Marshalls and the mossy green/gray color matches perfectly with the colors of the embroidered flowers on my blouse.
When wearing these jeans, your shoe game has to be on point, so without a doubt I chose my booties from Charlotte Russe. No one would ever guess that I got these booties for $6. Gotta love a good shoe sale.
Finally, what is an outfit without a choker? Here I am wearing a simple choker from Forever 21. If you are crazy obsessed with chokers, head over to Forever 21 to find endless amounts of inexpensive chokers. A fashionista’s heaven!
Denim is a huge staple in anyone’s wardrobe. And now that there are more styles of jeans than ever, I find myself wanting more and more. What are your thoughts on this season’s denim trends? Where is the best place to find jeans? What is your current “it” denim? Continue the discussion below. Love to hear from you all. See you next time!

You know you aren’t ready for the cold weather just yet when you decide to wear tights with your dress and accidently rip them with your unfiled finger nail. After creating a hole in my tights, I threw them out and threw my hands up and just said screw it, my pale legs can make one more appearance this fall season. This fall season, especially in Connecticut, has been weird. One day its cold, another day its warm, or the mornings are freezing and by the afternoon I am shedding off all my layers. But thank goodness today’s weather is suppose to be in the 60s, so my bare legs will survive.
I think this might be one of the last days in the 60s, so I might as well wear one of my favorite fall dresses from Target. How can you not be obsessed with this dress? I love the rich, warm autumn colors and beautiful floral print. This dress also includes two of this season’s popular trends, lace up and bell sleeves. The lace up detail adds a little more detail to an ordinary floral print dress, and the sleeve is not just your normal straight sleeve, but has a little flair, puffing out more. So I will be investing in a new pair of tights (several pairs because I can see the incident above happening again and again), so when the weather decides to stay cold, I can easily transition this dress for the chillier days and wear tights or leg warmers.
Especially early in the morning, you can’t leave the house (or in my case my apartment) without some sort of sweater. I found this rust colored cardigan at Target on the clearance rack for only $11. It especially looks great paired against the warm colors of the dress, but It can also be worn with so many other things.
For jewelry, I took somewhat of a risk. I am not talking about my go-to choker from Francesca’s but my choice to wear a longer necklace even with the dress’s lace up detail. I thought the long necklace would clash with the lace up detail, but to my surprise, my simple geometric long necklace from Forever 21 nicely balanced out the choker and lace up detail.
If it were summer, I would easily wear a pair of sandals with this dress but because it’s fall, it’s time to embrace the best season of them all, booties season. Who knew that when I bought these Rocket Dog booties years ago I’d now just be starting to wear them? I am making up for lost time because I can’t stop wearing them because these basic brown bootie go with any outfit.
Well that wraps up another Liv’s style post. Here’s to more beautiful fall weather and tights that are rip free. Let me know in the comments below how you style your favorite dress to make them more weather appropriate.

The Seasons For Bomber Jackets
Happy November everyone! For some it is the time to start listening to Christmas music and getting into the holiday spirit. But for me, I plan to enjoy the autumn days a little bit longer because the holiday season for me begins after Thanksgiving. But go ahead, listen to your favorite holiday tunes non-stop or start decorating for the holidays, no judgment here.
Anyway, a huge trend this fall season and continuing into the winter is bomber jackets. Every store you go to, you seem to find their take on the bomber jacket. Some you can find in your favorite solid color, others in different prints and patterns, or some decorated with pins and patches. The bomber jacket is the in thing this season; no wonder why my bomber jacket collection grows every week.
Today’s bomber jacket comes from the online store, Make Me Chic. On their site, you will find a huge selection of clothes and accessories following today’s hottest trends. At Make Me Chic you are guaranteed customer satisfaction, the best prices, and one heck of an outfit.
Of course, the floral print is always popular no matter what season it is and I am so happy my bomber jacket incorporates this fun, colorful print. I have to admit, I wish my jacket was a little thicker to keep my warm when the colder days approach, but that’s ok, because fall and winter is all about layering. I can easily make this bomber jacket weather friendly, by wearing a sweater underneath or my favorite scarf.
Under my jacket, I took the easy way out and just wore a simple white cami from Forever 21. I know once it gets colder, I am going to have to switch to something a little warmer. I am currently on the hunt for a white or light colored bodysuit to wear with this jacket. But until then this cami does the trick.
Although, I could see myself wearing this jacket with a pair of light-washed distressed boyfriend jeans, I decided to wear my favorite pair of high-waisted skinny jeans from Zara. I love the deep green color of the jeans and really think the shade of these jeans makes all the colors on the jacket pop.
Notice the zipper on my jacket is a beautiful gold color, so to keep with this color scheme I decided to add my favorite layered gold necklace from Forever 21. Layering delicate necklaces is so popular right now and the best part is that this necklace includes all the chains, so no need to put to much thought into it.
I’m aware it is November but I can’t seem to give up my strappy, open toe sandals by the brand Soda. In my opinion, they really aren’t sandals but cover my foot enough to almost look like a bootie. So as long as the weather continues to cooperate, I’ll continue to wear these shoes. They are totally in between a sandal and a bootie and complete any outfit.
Who else loves the bomber jacket trend? I love it so much that down below I included some more of my favorite bomber jackets, ones I have or ones that are on my wish list. Keep the bomber jacket discussion going down below by telling me how you style your bomber jacket. See you all in my next post!

Athleisure: The Secret To Comfy, College Girl Style
It wasn’t always socially acceptable to wear workout clothes in practically every setting. Now that the athleisure trend has taken off, life is so much easier, for us college students. With a packed class schedule and late night study sessions, you need a wardrobe that doesn’t add more work to your plate. Athleisure outfits simplify things big time so you can focus your energy on getting that degree. Check out these five athleisure items from Fabletics that will add ease and style to your semester.
Who doesn’t love leggings? Comfortable, versatile, and flattering for any body type, they are the quintessential athleisure item. They are casual enough to wear to class, perfect for a midday workout, and comfy enough to carry you through a late night study sesh. The Lissette High Waist Leggings are perfect for fall and winter. You can show off the high-waist with a crop top or keep it comfortable with an oversized sweater. The compression fabric helps to keep everything in so you can go ahead and have that extra late-night snack with your friends.
The rush to finish assignments, study for exams, and keep up with your social life does not leave time or energy to do (ahem—wash) your hair. That’s where your trusted ball cap comes in. Cover your bed head without looking like you’re trying to. The Perforated Cap adds a pop of cobalt blue to your look that distracts from those up-all-night bags under your eyes while the breathable material keeps it comfortable.
Just because you’re focused on grades doesn’t mean you can’t look cute and sexy. But it’s also important to stay comfy! With parties, club meetings, and tons of homework, you need as many multi-functional pieces in your wardrobe as possible. Behold The Yukon Dress by Fabletics. This sweatshirt-meets-miniskirt keeps you warm this fall in its signature athletic fleece. This fabric is both warm and sturdy so it can survive wearing and washing it multiple times a week. Two front pockets are convenient for storing an extra pen, bobby pins, or your cute classmate’s phone number— if you have time for that!
College life is notorious for its all-nighters. But every go-getter student knows it requires all-dayers too. You hit the library early in the morning for extra studying before the test, rock it in your classes all day long, and don’t get home until after your late night workout. The Criss Cross tote has enough room for your books and laptop, plus it has an extra removable bag to keep all those little items at hand. Store your phone, wallet, pens, and snacks in the cute red sack and easily zip it out and throw it in your going-out bag before you hit the town for some post-study partying.
An athlete-inspired jacket is the perfect finishing touch to your althleisure look. From moto jackets to windbreakers to bombers, the new jackets by Fabletics are an affordable way to keep warm in style. The Pella Coat has sophisticated faux leather detail and so many pockets you don’t even need a purse when you wear it. Its super warm, water-resistant fabric will get you from class to class no matter what the weather and with its removable hood you can dress it up or down.
The Athleisure trend has been a lifesaver. And thanks to Fabletics I have avoided many mornings rummaging through my closet trying to find something to wear. Who else is on the Athleisure trend bandwagon? What are some of your pieces and styles? Continue the discussion down below. Talk to you all in my next post.
Liv and Lauren’s Style: Her Campus College Fashion Week
Here it is…the long overdue outfit post from the Her Campus College Fashion Week show last weekend. No need for a lengthy intro because you can read all about my College Fashion Week experience here. This post is all about me and my friend Lauren’s fashionable looks for our night out in New York City. Keep scrolling to see more pictures of the stylish, dynamic duo, Liv and Lauren.
For my look, I was channeling my inner Kim K with a tight pencil skirt and body suit. Since it was a nighttime event, I chose dark colors and pops of sparkle. My H&M pencil skirt had just the right amount of glam, especially with that slit down the side.
My new obsession this season is bodysuits, they are so easy to wear and style. I kept it simple with a black body suit from Forever 21.
Since it was low cut, I wanted to accessorize to the max. I love my choker and necklace set from Apricot Lane, along with my silver coin earrings also from Apricot Lane.
Finally, a big shout out to my amazing roommate Mckenzi for letting me borrow her black platform heels from H&M. They totally completed my nighttime look.
As for Lauren, she always dresses to the nines. For the fashion show, she wore a velvet maxi dress from Zara and paired it with a denim jacket from Brandy Melville.
Throughout the night, she wore her denim jacket draped across her shoulders for an effortlessly chic look.
As for accessories, she of course wore her favorite choker from Brandy Melville and her oh so sexy strappy black heels by Steve Madden. It’s safe to say that my best friend has style.
You can tell by the two posts that the Her Campus fashion show was a HIT! It was a chance for two best friends to enjoy each other’s company with a night out in the city, as well as to dress to impress and discover new and empowering fashion designers.
Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the fall season. Although first semester of senior year has been tough, trying to balance school work with a social life and a blog, the changing leaves and the cool, brisk air is inspiring me and my outfits, so keep your eyes open for new posts coming soon.

Cool Girl Vibes
A brief break between classes calls for a short style post. It’s tough trying to be a full-time college student and blogger, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Keep reading to see one of my favorite outfits that I have been wearing to class during the day and when I go out for some evening fun.
Graphic tee, camo pants, Vans, and a choker is the recipe for a cool girl outfit. I keep going back and forth about today’s outfit. Not sure if it’s considered sporty or edgy? Or both? One thing I can agree on is that my outfit is super casual and trendy, featuring two popular trends for this fall, graphics and chokers.
Every time I go into Target for just “one” thing, it turns into a shopping spree. On my last trip to Target, I found these high-waisted skinny jeans. Just like the floral print, the camo print never goes out of style.
Usually I would have just paired my jeans with a simple white, black, or gray t-shirt, but I decided to add a graphic tee to add some more edge to my style and my StyleWe graphic t-shirt is perfect for this look. I love the asymmetrical style because some days I like to wear the shirt just how it is or some days I like to tie it and make it more cropped. Usually I save the crop style for the evening because with the high-waisted jeans it just works.
When it’s not yet time to break out the boots, but you are so over wearing sandals, Vans are your go-to because no matter what the weather, Vans always complete an outfit.
It seems like over the past year, the choker trend has exploded. The 90s grunge style is all the rage right now. I can’t complain because I love expanding my choker collection, especially with the one I am wearing today from Francesca’s. Don’t believe me that I have a choker obsession; just wait until my upcoming style posts where you won’t find me without a choker.
You know that no LivForStyle outfit is complete without a pair of sunglasses, so of course I am wearing my favorite Steve Madden sunnies.
On another note, so sorry for being MIA on my blog, but get very VERY excited because this girl has amazing content planned and exciting adventures to take you on. But in the meantime, I am very much active on Instagram so make sure you follow me on the ‘gram for the latest updates.
Although, I’ve been busy being a college senior, there has been lots going on in the fashion world, like New York Fashion Week and now London Fashion Week, so I would love to hear your thoughts on your favorite shows, looks, and any of your fall fashion must-haves. See you all in my next post!

Fall Shopping Made Easy: How To Create A Stylish Capsule Wardrobe
You may be desperate to clutch onto the dying days of summer. But there’s no doubt that fall is just around the corner. The days are getting shorter, and temperatures are falling steadily. Vacations and golden skin may be a thing of the past. But the arrival of fall is not all bad news. It’s a perfect excuse to revamp your wardrobe, and try out some brand new looks. It’s the perfect time to revamp your capsule wardrobe that is a wardrobe that includes the essential pieces that will never go out of style. Here are some simple tips to help you create a stylish capsule wardrobe to take you from summer to fall in style.
INVESTING IN THE BASICS
Never underestimate the importance of basics. If you get the essentials right, it’s much easier to build versatile, stylish outfits. As the cooler weather approaches, it’s time to invest in warm layers. Think long-sleeved crew neck tops and polo necks. Add some opaque tights and a few well-fitted pairs of jeans, and you’ve got the foundations pinned down.
(Image from http://wachabuy.com/fall-outfits/3/)
REMIXING THOSE SUMMER FAVORITES
You don’t have to put your skirts and dresses away just because the sun has gone into hiding. With the right layers, you can remix your summer style. Team a patterned dress with a pair of thick tights, a biker jacket, and ankle boots for a cool autumnal look. Wear a plain polo neck underneath a denim pinafore dress, or throw a cardigan over the top.
GOING FOR VERSATILE STYLE
When you’re building a capsule wardrobe, it’s advisable to opt for versatile styles. Think about clothes that you wear over and over again. For example, jeans are a staple of most people’s wardrobes. Once you’ve got a pair you love, you can wear them with shirts, blouses, tees and blazers. You can dress them up or down for any occasion. The classic LBD is another worthwhile investment piece.
(Image from http://wachabuy.com/fall-outfits/3/)
Accessories can change an outfit in an instant. If you have bags, shoes, and scarves, you can turn a simple ensemble into several different looks. Add color, mix and match prints, and make your outfit unique. In the fall, hats, bags and statement necklaces are fantastic investments. If you don’t have time to get to the mall, have a look online. You’ll find amazing ideas and styling tips, and you can check out sites like Belt N Bags.
ADDING KEY PIECES
Every capsule collection should have a mixture of staples and key pieces. These eye-catching additions tick off the new season trends and add interest to your wardrobe. In the colder seasons, you may consider spending a little more on a fabulous coat or a killer pair of boots,. Browse fashion magazines and check out your favorite celebrities’ Instagram pages for inspiration.
(Image from http://lulusdotcom.tumblr.com)
You may not want to bid farewell to the summer, but the arrival of cooler temperatures offers a great excuse to go shopping. Creating a capsule wardrobe is an excellent way of keeping up to date without spending a fortune. Invest in some basics, recycle your favorite looks and learn to accessorize. Add some trend-ticking statement purchases, and be versatile when you’re styling your outfits.
(Sigh) Why can’t summer last forever? It seems like the season takes forever to get here, and when it does finally arrive, it leaves in a blink of an eye. I know the official end to summer isn’t until the end of September but I realized the days are getting shorter and the kiddies are back in school (same with me) but I can’t complain because I had one of the best summers ever. Some of the highlights of my summer include interning with a great fashion company, learning tons about the fashion industry, having more time to blog, and vacationing to the Hamptons a few times.
In today’s post, I am showing you one of my favorite summer outfits that can be easily transitioned into the fall. It took me some time to warm up to the flared leg trend, but I am obsessed with all things flared. What struck me the most about my Madewell pants is the flared detail and the beautiful rose color. I believe this deep rose color will be perfect for the fall. The color kind of reminds me of the leaves soon to be turning colors.
Since I am “new” to the flared trend, I have not really been experimenting too much when it comes to pairing tops with flared pants. I usually stick to the basics like this slim fitting Madewell cream-colored tank. I like to tuck my shirt in because when styling flared pants I always like to keep the proportions in set, tight on the top and loose and flowy on the bottom.
Everyone always asks why I choose to wear a sweater even when the temperatures are in the high 80s. I do so because I feel like it completes my outfit and besides I usually wear it off my shoulders. All fashionistas should have a basic light tan colored cardigan in their wardrobe, like mine from Marshall’s. Never underestimate the power of a simple cardigan completing any outfit.
I do wish I was a little taller so I wouldn’t have to wear heels or wedges with my flared pants. But my brown strappy heels by Candie’s does the trick by giving me some extra height and adding major style to any look.
One way to celebrate all year long is by wearing this seashell necklace from H&M. I love this necklace paired against the deep burgundy of my pants.
Lastly, what’s a summer outfit without my favorite straw hat from H&M and favorite pair of sunglasses by Steve Madden? So of course, I had to include these essentials in this look.
Every year I always wonder why we can’t have an endless summer. Only a few more weeks of summer left, so time to take advantage of the beautiful weather and season and show you all my favorite summer looks. Let me know in the comments below what some of your summer looks have been on repeat this season.

The fashion world has been going nuts over the re- launch of a very popular at the start of the decade; I am talking about the matching velour Juicy Couture jumpsuit. Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Kim K, Brittany Spears, and many other celebs loved to model the Juicy Couture velour tracksuits back in the 2000s.
It was because of these celebs, that at every birthday and Christmas I would always ask my parents for one of these most coveted fashion items. Sadly, I was never the girl rocking the popular hot pink tracksuit with the dangling J on the zipper. In fact, I was not mad at my parents for not buying me a Juicy jump suit; I loved wearing my knockoff velour suits from places like Old Navy and The Children’s Place. I could get like 10 jumpsuits for the price of one Juicy Couture tracksuit. But sadly, since I wore the jumpsuits without the J charm, I was not considered “cool,” oh well. For $200, my parents would rather not spend it on a piece of fabric that was just a trend, and boy were they right because within a short time, the matchy match jumpsuit was no longer the buzz. In fact, in 2014 the creators of Juicy Couture closed all of their stores. The once coveted Juicy Couture was replaced with the arrival of new trends, like skinny jeans.
Now in 2016, everyone can’t get enough of the athlesuire trend. Athlesiure can be described as casual and comfy athletic clothes that look like you just went to the gym but are actually just super fashion forward. Think Lululemon leggings, nylon quarter zip ups, and classic Adidas sneakers.
But what’s the athleisure trend without a good track suit? So the time is right for Juicy Couture to rebrand and luckily Bloomingdales agrees. Juicy Couture and Bloomingdales re-launched the popular velour jumpsuit. At Bloomingdales you can find the ever so popular low-rise pants with matching slim fit jacket with the iconic J charm on the zipper. The limited designer collection is all about bringing back the tracksuit and the look of the 2000s. If you were a big fan of this look at the beginning of the new century you are going to love the #TRACKISBACK campaign. Head over to Bloomingdale’s to purchase the timeless hoodie and flared pant set in seven different colors for $108.
Remember in my 70’s post, seen here, I said trends like to repeat themselves, well the Juicy Track Suit is just another example of the repeating fashion cycle. Let me know in the comments below if you will be re-living the 2000s by sporting one of the revamped tracksuit or would you rather not wear head to toe velour.
One With Nature
I’m not a real fan of nature. Sure I love spending summer days by the pool or beach or walk aside a pigeon in New York City but that is about how outdoorsy I’ll get. You won’t find me hiking or camping but I heard from friends who participate in those activities that it’s tons of fun.
I don’t want to limit myself to any new adventures so today I decided to go on a mini hike and by mini hike I mean go explore the lake and wooded area of my friends backyard. It’s a start and a chance to show you one of my favorite casual hot weather looks. Keep on reading to see how I embark on a new adventure. Just call me livfornature.
Cool, casual, and comfy are the three rules for dressing for any outdoor summer activity. You would think my shorts were pajamas because of the look and feel but they are not pajamas but super trendy and comfy shorts from H&M. The geometric print and the warm color palette makes these my go-to shorts for the summer. As much as I love denim shorts they can be super hot and restrictive so a nice pair of elastic waist cotton shorts are the winner for summer.
I didn’t want to throw in any other patterns in my outfit, so I just wore a simple black tank. This Mudd brand black tank top is nothing special so I decided to knot it just to give some added shape and to make it shorter to show off my cool shorts.
The crochet sweater is not to keep me warm but just to complete my outfit. It’s super lightweight so it won’t cause me to melt plus if it gets too hot I can always let it hang on my arms or tie it around my waist.
Am I the only one super glad that the choker trend is a thing? I can’t stop channeling my inner 90s child with my favorite chokers. But today’s choker is super special and can’t be found in typical stores like Forever 21. I found my gem stone choker at a local art festival. The beautiful stone has such unique characteristics that it changes colors depending on the sun or angle that you are looking at, making it a perfect necklace to go with any outfit.
For shoes, I stuck with my black slip-ons from Marshalls. The lace detailing allows for air to flow keeping my feet sweat and stinky free. Plus they are super flat and light, you think you are walking barefoot but your feet are totally protected from any mysterious insects or creepy crawlers hiding on the ground.
I can’t see myself wandering into the woods anytime soon but hey at least today was a start and a chance to try something new. Are any of my readers campers or hikers? Or are you like me who’d rather just hang by the pool or beach or walk the streets of New York City?

Halfway To The Weekend
Raise your hand if you took full advantage of the Zara sale this year. If you saw me right now, you would see both of my hands raised because I totally went nuts over the Zara sale. The annual Zara sale usually starts in June and lasts until what it seems like when they run of out sale merchandise. Practically all their merchandise is marked down. A fashionistas dream. However, if you missed this sale, I believe there is a very, very limited selection of sale items in stores and online. But don’t worry because this huge sale made room for their new collections and let me tell you Zaras new collection is on point. Can’t wait to shop some more. Sorry wallet.
Throughout the month of June and July, I found myself visiting Zara by the train station every morning before work and every evening after work. Walking by the store everyday was dangerous. Some days leaving empty handed and other days scoring great deals. So with that being said my wardrobe greatly increased thanks to Zara and I can’t wait to style my new pieces. I already styled my new favorite Zara blouse and flared jeans for one of my posts. Check it out here.
This post features two more of my favorite Zara pieces, a one of a kind kimono and a pair of distressed relaxed jeans. I am loving how this season is all about different fits of denim, not just the skinny jean. I’d rather slip into a pair of comfortable, loose fit jeans than a pair of skinny jeans any day. My Zara relaxed jeans have the right amount of stretch. Plus the light denim wash and distressed detailing makes these jeans my favorite for the summer season and the transition into fall. Of course I cuffed my jeans because I feel like cuffing your jeans is a rule when it comes to boyfriend and relaxed jeans.
The second star of my outfit is this one-of-a-kind kimono from Zara. I love the neutral pattern with pops of gold and rust shades, tassels, and coins. Since my kimono has alot of details, I paired it with a simple black t-shirt from Cotton On.
An open kimono totally needs a necklace and what better necklace to wear is my pineapple pendant necklace from Charming Charlie. So cute!
For shoes, you can’t go wrong with a pair of laced up flats. I see these Rampage shoes as the perfect transition pair of shoes for the fall.
Of course, you have to keep the sun out of your eyes and there is no better way to do so than wearing my favorite Firvoo sunglasses. These sunglasses are my go-to, especially on those days when I don’t feel like wearing makeup and feel like hiding from the world.
There is no better feeling than shopping and adding new items to your wardrobe. I have a feeling my closet will be growing larger as we head into fall. Who else participated in the Zara sale? If so, what did you find? Also, let me know if any of you have scored some other great sales? I am always in the mood to shop. Talk to you all soon.

Little Miss Sunshine
Technically summer doesn’t officially end until the end of September but in the retail world it seems like after Fourth of July they switch to back to school and fall fashion mode. As much as I hate the thought of summer ending I’m trying to look on the bright side and focus on my love for fall fashion and of course the end of summer sales. Although most of the sales involve summer merchandise like shorts, rompers, tanks, and so on, with the art of layering you can certainly transition those pieces into the fall.
It seems like H&M rarely has sales because their merchandise is so inexpensive anyway but 80% off select merchandise piqued my interest. With only a few minutes to shop I found two items that were calling my name.
I first picked up this beautiful skirt. I love the unique tie-dye design and the mustard color. I can see myself wearing this skirt into the fall because of that rich color. The skirt is flowy and high-waisted which I like. It’s not as long as a maxi skirt but not as short as a mini skirt just the perfect in between.
Since picking up this skirt for only $15 I knew I wanted a fitted cream colored top to bring out the cream color in the skirt and not take away from the beauty of the yellow shade. I wanted something fitted so I can have the option to either tuck it in or knot it. I chose this simple $5 t-shirt and it goes great with my skirt and many other pieces in my closet. Funny thing is that it’s not supposed to be off the shoulder but the shoulder area fits a little weird and loose so a simple off the shoulder fix did the trick.
For jewelry I am loving anything gold and anything with tassels. So this Charming Charlie necklace matched perfectly with my outfit and the whole vibe of the look.
Shoes were a no brainer. I chose to wear another pair of my vintage Candies wedges. They are a little high so taking photos on a rocky surface was a challenge. Luckily I didn’t fall. That’s an accomplishment.
This summer I discovered my love for summer fedora like hats. I totally need to expand my hat collection because if I post myself wearing this hat one more time on my blog or Instagram I have a feeling my readers will be like what the heck we get it, you like that hat. I can’t help it but I just feel so fashion forward in my hat plus it covers up any bad hair days.
Lastly, before heading out the door I grabbed my favorite Steve Madden sunglasses. They are not new to the blog. See how I style them here.
Between the H&M sale and the Zara sale (look out for a new post featuring Zara soon), I have been shopping like crazy. I guess that’s what happens when your day consists of analyzing fashion trends, reading style blogs, and spending the days in New York City. My closet is happy, but my wallet not so much.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and continue to soak up the summer sun before it’s gone. Let me know in the comments below what sales you have been shopping lately and some of your favorite pieces purchased. See you all in my next post.

That’s So 70s
One of the many things I learned from spending two summers interning in New York City with prestigious fashion companies is that trends like to repeat themselves. Every season it seems like fashion trends in a particular decade come back again. Almost like the expression history repeats itself, it seems like fashion does too.
This season is all about the 70s with the flared jeans, the 80s with patches (click here to see how I completely transformed a denim jacket with a few patches) and you can’t forget chokers for that 90s grunge. I always yell at my mom for not keeping any of her clothes from back in the day. She always responds by saying she didn’t know that 20/30 years later those trends would be huge.
But luckily my mom and dad always share what they wore and what was popular back in the day. And when their memory about a certain trend is foggy the Internet is the best place to find inspiration. So keep on reading to time travel back to the 70s and embrace the flared Jean trend.
Who else has been going bananas over the big Zara sale? It doesn’t help that I have to pass by a Zara every time I walk to the train station. So I’ve been shopping at Zara a lot so get ready for more posts featuring my Zara goodies.
I always wanted to experiment with flared denim so when I found a pair of high-waisted crop flared jeans at Zara for an awesome price I knew this was my chance. I don’t regret this purchase because these flared jeans totally take me out of my skinny jean comfort zone.
For a top to pair with my flared jeans, I knew I wanted something colorful. Although this top is not entirely 70s I can totally see someone from that time period wear this top. I found this shirt at Zara and it was such a bargain. Of course I tucked in a little portion of my blouse to show off the high-waisted feature of my jeans.
One style of shoes my mom always talks about is Candies. I heard from a pretty reliable source that they were the hit thing in the 70s. I’m so happy I got my hands on a pair of Candies platform wedges. In my opinion when you wear flared pants you need a heel for a boost of height to really exaggerate the flare.
As for arm candy, I am keeping it simple and just wearing my favorite Hollis Hayes elephant charm bracelet.
Maybe it’s just me but whenever I wear my Forever 21 round sunglasses I feel like a hippie so I knew this pair of sunglasses would complete my 70s look.
Thanks for time traveling with me and reading about my 70s inspired look. Let me know in the comments below if you are loving the 70s trend or can do away with it. See you next time!
A Walk On The Wild Side
It’s a jungle out there. Just kidding it’s just my backyard, but my blouse certainly gives me jungle fever. I’m embracing the wild side of me in today’s post. Instead of just featuring the cheetah print pattern why not feature the whole animal and several of them. Keep on reading to explore my outfit details and the jungle behind me… Who knows what I might find.
How fierce is this white button down blouse from Madewell? The cheetahs really make this outfit. Without the cheetahs it would just be a plain white button down…BORING! Busy animal prints can be overwhelming, but so fashion forward. This print is a totally refreshing change from the usual floral or paisley print and polka dots or stripes.
Next, denim skirts are a huge trend this summer and can be easily transitioned into the fall, when that time comes, but no rush because I still want to enjoy more of the summer. My button up denim skirt from H&M totally embraces that 70s vibe. I love the button details in the middle, which add a little something to the denim skirt.
To give my Madewell blouse more of a shape and to show off the button detail of my skirt I decided to half tuck the blouse. There’s really no method to tucking your blouse, the messier the better. Make it look like you didn’t spend hours trying to make it look perfect (even if you, did I won’t tell).
Speaking of vibes, I am all about spreading those good vibes. Sometimes it’s hard to remember the importance of staying positive and spreading positivity so my Charlie Charming good vibes charm necklace reminds me to spread those good vibes. Plus it matches perfectly with my outfit.
To keep with the 70s trend, I am wearing my new favorite embellished block heels from Charlotte Russe. They are my go-to summer sandal because they go with any outfit.
Finally, you can’t wander the jungle without wearing your favorite pair of aviator sunglasses.
Oh my! Look what I found in the jungle while I was exploring. It’s some sort of weird species. I think it’s a lion, maybe a tiger, no wait it’s a ferocious three-year-old West Highland Terrier named Griffin. He is completely harmless, more like a diva that didn’t want his picture taken. But how cute does he look in my sunglasses. Maybe the blogging world is calling his name…GriffinForStyle.
I’ve spent enough time wandering outside, now time to show off my outfit in the best way possible by walking down the streets of New York City. I am certain I won’t run into any lions or tigers in NYC, just some hungry pigeons. Until next time…
Sizzlin’ Summer (Dress) + Link Up
What’s summer without a collection of your favorite summer dresses hanging in your closet? In the fashion dictionary, a summer dress has no true definition. A summer dress can be pretty much anything you want. Long or short with patterns and texture like denim, lace, crochet, floral, gingham, geometric, and the list goes on. Anyone can find their perfect summer dress. A dress so light, so easy to style, but yet captures your true personality.
I know two fabulous bloggers who really know how to rock summer dresses. I am so excited to be part of Michelle (Michelle’s Pa(i)ge) and Ana’s (Northwest Blonde) weekly link up post. Our last link up together was our post all about boho styles. To refresh your memory click here and don’t forget to check out Michelle and Ana’s blog for more style inspiration.
Keep reading to see one of my many summer dresses that has been on repeat.
So the star of this look is of course my summer dress. I am obsessed with my new tie-dye dress from Zara. I love the warm colors, resembling a desert scene. And now with my blonde hair this has become my go-to color palette.
I believe shirt dresses are meant to be belted to highlight your waist and give the dress more shape. You can’t go wrong with a simple, skinny, brown braided belt from H&M. In my opinion, even if you don’t think you need a belt in your wardrobe, everyone should have a brown and black belt for those fashion moments when you are looking for something to complete your outfit.
Although this outfit is far from dull, I thought I needed to add something more to this look. As I was going through my closet, I dug up this fringe scarf I bought at a local boutique. It is one of those pieces I just had to buy in the moment, but sadly rarely wear it. So I thought today was perfect to experiment with this fringe scarf and put it to good use.
For shoes, I am breaking in my new strappy, wedges from Charlotte Russe. Although uncomfortable the first time I wore them, I know I will be pairing these detailed wedges with many of my favorite summer looks.
No outfit is complete without an elephant so I am wearing my new Hollis Hayes bracelet. The coloring of the beads and charm perfectly matches my dress. Check out more of their fabulous bracelets here.
Lastly, what’s a summer look without your favorite pair of sunglasses? So I am wearing my pink framed glasses from The Loft.
So that concludes another summer style post and weekly link up post with Michelle and Ana. To be honest, I can’t think of a good way to end this post without it sounding awkward, so I will just leave you with this. Go ahead, go shopping for your perfect summer dress and don’t be afraid to put your favorite dress on repeat because that is what summer is all about.
Patch It Up
It’s not hard to tell from my three back-to-back denim related posts, that lately I’m obsessing over all things denim. Sarcasm aside denim is a major staple in any wardrobe. Today I’m not focusing on jeans or a denim dress but an oversized vintage denim jacket to which I added my own personal style.
Overall, this outfit just makes me feel cool. I’m convinced it is the jean jacket because it is not an ordinary denim jacket but a denim jacket with a variety of patches. I discovered that iron on patches were a huge trend in the 80s. Pretty much anywhere there was space on your favorite shirt, jacket, or jeans, you could put a patch on it. The 80s must have been a fun decade but I hardly remember it (haha just kidding, 90s baby right here). Fashion is all about bringing past trends back so I proudly wear my patched up denim jacket.
My denim jacket is from Brag Vintage, a UK based vintage clothing store selling the highest quality vintage and retro women and men’s clothing and accessories. They are constantly updating their collection, so every week you can find a new and unique treasure waiting to be part of your wardrobe.
There is no better place than Amazon to find a variety of iron on patches. I had a blast picking out which patches I wanted to include and I decided to add some music influence, my love for New York, and other quirky patches like the eye and the alien.
All eyes should be on my jean jacket, hence the eye patches and there is no better way to pair this jacket than with a basic white and black shift dress from Target.
As for footwear, no shoe is cooler than a pair of high top Vans, so I think these sneakers perfectly tie together this vintage look. And for an extra boost of coolness, I decided to wear my colorful mirrored sunglasses.
Remember with a little online shopping and a creative eye anyone can revamp a basic piece. A great way to start is by taking a pair of old jeans or a thrifted jean jacket and put your creativity to work to transform it into a hip new look. I am so inspired to do more of these DIY fashion looks. Who knows what will be next. Until then, I’ll stay a part of the cool kid club and wear this jacket. Send me a comment and let me know about any of your DIY fashion ideas. See you all in my next post.
Denim and Leopard
We all know the popular combos like oil and vinegar, peanut butter and jelly, fire and ice, milk and cookies, and so on. In the fashion world, I have discovered some combos that work so well together, including denim and leopard, hence the name of this post.
The denim trend is so hot this season. Lately, head to toe denim is the way to dress, which is why I love my denim dress from Forever 21. It has easily become my summer staple because of the endless ways to style this dress. It’s a simple dress with stitching and faux pocket detailing, and it’s the simplicity that makes it special. With this dress denim is no longer just your favorite pair of jeans.
So now with the first part, the denim part, of the fashion combo complete, let’s move on to the leopard. Leopard is easily my favorite print. It can never go out of style. Any pop of leopard can instantly transform your outfit from boring to spectacular and that is just what my Sam Edelman leopard print high tops do. These shoes certainly make a statement and paired with a simple denim piece they really pop. Any type of stylish sneakers will add a sporty, yet chic vibe to your look.
Although the denim and leopard combo certainly is eye-catching enough, I wanted to add a few of my favorite summer accessories. For jewelry, I am wearing my tribal inspired beaded necklace from Madewell. It features all of my favorite shades of orange and red, which look great against the denim. Of course, on any summer day you can’t leave the house without your favorite pair of sunglasses. I love my new Steve Madden wayfarer style sunglasses. They are perfect for the beach, the pool, or a day of shopping outdoors.
If you see me wandering the streets of New York City, I am almost certain you will see me wearing this exact outfit. I hope I inspired you all to wear some denim and leopard print together. What are some of your favorite fashion combos? Let me know in the comments below. Talk to you all in my next post. But if you can’t wait until then, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
Shop Now: Summer Must Haves
Summer might not officially start for another month, but the heat has got us excited about all the upcoming adventures and holiday getaways. The traveling, the beach, the parties, makes summer arguably everyone’s favorite season, and we love all the lightweight clothing that come with it. Although all the accessories of winter and spring might be fun to pile on, let’s face it: as Travel Republic iterates, we long for the days that we can leave the layers behind.
We all have our own summer essentials and favorites, but we’re curious as to what the experts are recommending. The editors of Lyst have compiled several useful collections to inspire our summer wardrobe, with one suggesting that you “embrace the freedom of endless summer days and nights and go for sexy Off-The-Shoulder tops, Baywatch style swimsuits and micro mini shorts,” from brands such as Nasty Gal, TopShop, Free People and more.
No matter which brands you shop for, just be sure that you have the following items to survive the season.
A cotton jumpsuit
Some women seem to be under the impression that you need to have legs for days to pull off a one-piece like this, however Poplin Style reminds us that even the petite ladies can look amazing in a jumpsuit, as long as it isn’t too baggy or generally overwhelms their frame. Wear it with a belt cinched at the waist during a city break or a bikini for tonight’s pool party; the jumpsuit is a stress-free way to look sexy all day long.
Celebrities are totally loving these silky Japanese cover ups, and who can blame them? The material keeps you cool in the heat, which is perfect for the beach, for errands and brunch, and plenty of other occasions. Plus it makes a powerful statement and elevates your outfit to a whole new level.

A straw fedora
Protection against harmful UV rays is important, especially during this time of year, but if you’re not exactly crazy about the big floppy hats, try on a straw fedora for size. Stylist of the Kardashian clan Monica Rose tells In Style that these Panama hats are chic and will definitely remain a summer staple for years to come.
Now you are educated on the hottest things to make your summer unforgettable and of course stylish. Hit up your favorite stores to find tons of summer must-haves and then don’t forget to hit the beaches and summer parties to show off your new looks. Happy Summer!
Boho Chic + Link Up
Boho chic is defined as a type of style being influenced by bohemian and hippie looks. Think floral prints, warm colors, fringe, round sunglasses, flowing pants and skirts, and so on. Look to celebs like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Vanessa Hudgens, and Nicole Richie for inspiration.
I am so excited to be the co-host of Michelle (Michelle’s Pa(i)ge) and Ana’s (Northwest Blonde) weekly link up post. It’s an honor to be part of this fun theme because it is so me. I love the boho style and these ladies certainly know how to dress, so make sure to check them out.
I always feel fashion forward when I wear flared pants, especially with a wild and colorful pattern. I have to admit, I always feel like people on the street are going to mistaken these pants for pajamas, but then I think these are way to stylish to be pajamas. I love my flowing pants from Target, especially the bold print and colors. I feel like any hippie would be caught wearing these pants because they are comfy, trendy, and perfect for any free spirit.
I kept the top simple because what could compete with these pants. I am wearing just a basic white tank from Forever 21. Since the weather is still not warm enough to expose bare shoulders, I decided to wear my favorite light, crochet cardigan from Apricot Lane. In my opinion, every boho look needs a little crochet.
Whenever I wear flared pants, I like to wear a sandal that has a little wedge to them to give me a little extra height and also to keep my pants from dragging on the ground. For shoes, I looked no further than to my lace up wedge sandals from Call it Spring.
Lastly for accessories, I had to wear my favorite Forever 21 gold elephant pendant necklace (no shock there). Also no boho outfit is complete without your favorite pair of round sunglasses. My Forever 21 round sunglasses were certainly the icing on my (boho) cake. Who else thinks I am ready to hit Coachella next year? California here I come.
The sun is shining, the weather is getting warmer, the summer is almost here, so what better season than to try out the boho trend. Link your posts that fit the boho theme and be sure to visit blogs for some inspiration.
Last week was crazy; I finished my junior year of college and turned 21, all on the same day. I think I had one to many margaritas on my birthday because I am still recovering from the festivities. Not to mention that ending a school year means packing up all my stuff at school and moving back home. My room these last couple of days perfectly describes my life as messy and in shambles. But just like I can get my room all nice and tidy, I am starting to get in the groove of being home, getting back to blogging, and preparing for another summer working in New York City.
Everyone always tells me that I have my life together and I like to think I do, but there are still days where I wake up frazzled, overwhelmed with ideas and stressed to make sure each day is productive, so hey if I am going to be a mess, might as well call me a hot mess. My life motto there and it should be yours too. Remember routines and schedules can make life boring, so whenever you can embrace that “hot mess” side of you, it will make life more interesting. Ok, enough of me being a life coach, let me get back to what I do best, sharing my style.
Linen is making a comeback this summer season. It only makes sense because linen is a lightweight material to keep you cool on those hot summer days. I love my Old Navy linen cropped pants. These pants score extra points in the comfort department. Plus, I love the dull green color because in my opinion that color is considered neutral, so these pants are super versatile.
As soon as I purchased these linen pants, I knew I wanted to pair them up with a simple white t-shirt, but a solid white t-shirt can be dangerous, hello stains. So I opted for a cream and black striped three quarter sleeve from Madewell.
The Circus collection by Sam Edelman was designed for me. All their quirky and fun pieces perfectly describe my personality, so of course I can’t stop wearing my new slip on sneakers. These shoes are sassy and definitely make a statement. Slip on these shoes on those days when you want the world to know you are not only a mess, but a hot mess, emphasis on the hot.
Next for accessories, I always have to wear some sort of elephant pendant necklace and the best place to find these types of necklaces are at Forever 21. These necklaces instantly transform your outfits.
Speaking of transforming outfits, I am obsessed with my Firmoo sunglasses. Head over to firmoo.com for discounted eyeglasses and sunglasses, featuring all different frames, shapes, and sizes. All the glasses are inexpensive, high quality, and of course stylish. How cool are my mirrored sunglasses? Nobody can see where I am looking, so I can hard-core people watch (HAHA). I also love the color of the lenses, all great colors for the summer; the perfect pair of glasses to throw in your beach bag.
Summer is here and adventures wait. One of my adventures includes making my blog the best one-stop site for all things fashion, beauty, and lifestyle topics. Let me know down below some of your adventures or goals this summer. Talk to you all very soon!
Best Dressed From Met Gala 2016
When I was busy slaving over final papers and studying for final exams, some of my favorite celebrities and a bunch of famous people strutted their stuff on the red carpet at the annual Met Gala. Officially called the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, the Met Gala is the party of the year. When will it be my turn to receive a ticket to one of the hottest events in New York City? For now, I just get to admire everyone’s outfit through a computer screen and comment on the looks that took my breath away.
This year’s theme was inspired by the fashion exhibit Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. This exhibit features fashion designers work that blends handmade and machine-made fashion. Each year, the Met Gala features a unique theme and guests are urged to showcase the theme in their elaborate outfits. Since this year’s theme focused on the future, I wasn’t shocked to see tons of metallic sequins, and just out of the ordinary looks.
There were more best-dressed than worst dressed stars because I believe the Met Gala is the perfect time to take fashion risks. So keep on reading to find out who made my top dressed list and let me tell you it was hard to narrow down the winners.
Taylor Swift- T-Swift was unrecognizable. She totally channeled a different side of herself, The more punk, edgy side. I am not complaining. She nailed it. Her silver metallic, reptile print with side cutouts dress by Louis Vuitton finished with lace up black heels perfectly embodies the futuristic fashion theme Taylor Swift proves that you do not need to wear a long gown on a red carpet to make a statement. Not only did her short dress make a statement but also her blonde bob and dark lip was a head turner.
Lupita Nyong’o- You can always count on Lupita to add a pop of color to any red carpet. I am obsessed with her sea foam colored sequin dress by Calvin Klein. She just glimmered on the red carpet. Plus, her sky-high hair added a futuristic vibe to her look. I could only imagine the headache she probably had as a result of her unique hairdo.
Zoe Saldana– Can we just take a moment and admire her mile long multi-colored feather train? Breathtaking. Everyone probably stayed far away from Zoe Saldana because they were probably afraid they would step on her train. Her Dolce & Gabbana dress started off simple with a basic black top but quickly turned into a one-of-a-kind dress with that train. After reviewing tons of looks from the Met Gala, it seems like feathers were the trend of the night and who knows maybe a trend for the future.
Kristen Stewart- Kristen Stewart looks tough in her Chanel long-sleeve, t-length dress. Her dress reminds me of a starry night sky. Plus the cut out at the waist, just takes this look to a whole new level. In addition to her dress, her heavy silver eye shadow and black eyeliner is so fierce. I like to call her look “when punk meets space”.
Rita Ora– It seems like in the future the trend will be head to toe feathers. Rita Ora’s Vera Wang gown was show stopping. She was decked out in silver. Silver gown, silver makeup, and even silver sparkles in her hair. The small details are what made her look astonishing.
Chloe Grace Moretz- To be honest, Chloe Grace Moretz was not always on my best dressed list. After taking a closer look at her Coach gown, I noticed the Art Deco inspired pattern and immediately my opinion changed. I love her simple black dress with the unique, metallic pattern on the top and sides. Her look is perfect for those who didn’t want to entirely take the plunge into the futuristic theme.
Nicole Kidman- Is it just me, but when I think of future I automatically think of space? Well Nicole Kidman’s cape and gown combo by Valentino definitely incorporated the space theme. Her gown included beaded details resembling moons and stars. I could stare at her dress for hours.
Poppy Delevigne– WOW! Poppy Delevigne looks like she belongs in a museum. Her Marchesa gown is a piece of art, indeed. I love how her dress features tons of tassels, fringe, and beading. So elaborate, so perfect. Her dress did remind me more of the 1920s and the old Hollywood era, but fashion trends do repeat themselves, so maybe that trend is the trend for the future.
Emma Roberts- I love seeing more color on the red carpet. Emma Roberts looked gorgeous in her Tory Burch dress. I loved how her dress was somewhat sombre, with different shades of purple ranging from light to dark. Plus the geometric pattern added a futuristic feel to her style.
Alexa Chung- This jumpsuit by Thakoon is my vision of space and the future. I loved the Alexa Chug head to toe sequin jumpsuit. She sparkled. Her jumpsuit was an edgy twist on the tuxedo. Plus, I love when jumpsuits make an appearance on the red carpets.
Rachel McAdams– Anything with gold sparkles automatically wins a special place in my heart. Rachel McAdams’ Valentino dress was certainly a work of art because the details on her dress were superb. What amazes me is that if you look closely at her dress, you can see that the beaded words spell out lines from Dante’s Divine Comedy. Mind blowing!
Well that concludes another one of my lengthy best-dressed posts. I always have so much to say about the fashion for that night. But enough of me talking about my best dressed, now it is your turn. Let me know in the comments below who made your best-dressed list.
Pretty In Pastels
When life gets boring…add color. As much as I stick to my neutral colors, I can’t help but to incorporate more color into my looks especially when I have been bombarded with the signs of spring…warm weather, sunshine, and the abundance of flowers. After all, the right pop of color in any look makes for the perfect statement.
Lately, I’ve been really getting into thrift shopping and hitting up consignment shops, instead of the usual Forever 21. Something about these types of stores really get me excited because you never know what treasures you will find. Not to mention the great discounts too. With that being said, I am so happy I found thredUP, a one-stop shopping website where you will find a variety of clothing, shoes, and accessories at amazing prices. Just think of thredUP as a consignment shop offering thousands of high-quality, like-new, clothing items. I’ll bet you couldn’t tell that the star of this outfit, my tie-dye sweatshirt is from the high-end brand Vintage Havana. I’ll also bet you couldn’t tell that I got this item for under $20. All thanks to thredUP.
This outfit of mine has been on repeat. I’m convinced my whole campus is starting to notice how much I have been wearing this outfit, especially the tie-dye sweatshirt. I can’t help it, this outfit is just so darn cute, colorful, and comfy (wow, anyone else pick up on that alliteration? I think all my learning about alliteration in my writing classes is really getting to my head). As mentioned above, my tie-dye sweatshirt is by Vintage Havana but luckily I scored a great deal on it from thredUP. To keep with the pastel color scheme, I am wearing my new light wash distressed skinny jeans from Zara. Nothing is better than a light wash pair of denim for the spring. For shoes, I chose to wear my must-have white slip on Converse. Skinny jeans and converse make for the perfect combo. To complete the look, of course I had to add an elephant pendant necklace. It is my staple.
I can’t forget to mention that spring is also the perfect time to do some spring-cleaning and go through your wardrobe to get rid of unwanted clothes. I have already started my spring-cleaning and realized how many clothes I just don’t wear anymore. So instead of them collecting dust in my closet, I decided to actually put them to good use and donate them to thredUP. Their talented team can choose the items to resell or to recycle. Not only does thredUP help you stay fashionable but they also help the community and environment. You can’t beat that.
I hope I’ve motivated you to do get outside and be inspired by the season of spring, as well as do some spring cleaning to make room in your closet for new spring fashions.

Show Me Your Teeth
It’s no secret that I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. From her unique personality, her distinct style, and her catchy music, I try to channel my inner Lady Gaga whenever I get the chance. No, you will not find me wearing a meat dress like Lady Gaga did at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, but whatever chance I get, I love wearing more edgier pieces, especially ones that feature sparkles and of course some quirky detail. Of course, I had to name this post after one of my favorite Lady Gaga songs, Teeth. Recently, I can’t stop listening to all of Lady Gaga’s albums on Spotfiy, no wonder why Lady Gaga has been on my brain and has inspired some of my recent style choices.
Today’s look is totally different. Maybe I would not wear it to class, but you bet I would wear this down to New York City or for a night out in town. This look consists of my two favorite styles, edgy and sporty, and you can’t forget the leather and sparkles.
My new cropped sweatshirt from Romwe just screams Lady Gaga, don’t you think? I love the simple gray sweatshirt with the sparkly lip icon front and center. If you like my sweatshirt, I’ll bet you will like everything on Romwe.com. Check out Romwe for your one stop shop for all things fashion. You will get lost in their selection of dresses, tops, skirts, kimonos, accessories, and much, much more. To compliment my top and the sparkles, I decided to wear my faux leather mini skirt from H&M. I decided to tuck in parts of my sweatshirt for more of a laid back vibe and also to show off the zipper detail of my skirt.
You can easily throw on a pair of your favorite heels with this outfit, but to keep it more sporty and casual, I busted out my new babies, my high-top Vans. I can’t get over the fit and design of these sneakers. I know I’ll be wearing these sneakers to death during the spring and summer seasons. I guess all the Lady Gaga music, sparkles, and leather got to my head because I decided to wear my favorite black framed sunglasses to spice up my look. I have to admit I do feel pretty cool in this outfit.
Simple, sporty, and edgy was the look I was going for today and if I do say so myself, I think I nailed it, all thanks to Romwe, H&M, Vans, and Lady Gaga’s one-of-a-kind taste in fashion. Let me know in the comments below what celebrities inspire your fashion choices. Until next time…

Subtle Pops Of Color
Hello again. So sorry for my absence on my blog. For all of those who don’t know I decided to go blonde and I was to busy testing out the theory if blondes do have more fun. Just kidding (well half kidding). I did dye my hair blonde but I have been super busy with school work. Being a second semester junior is not easy. But now I have more time for my blog and fun things, so I will get back to you on the theory if blondes do have more fun.
I am so excited to show you another one of my favorite outfits, as well as debut my new blonde doo. Now that the weather is changing, I am even more inspired to experiment with new clothing and trends, and of course go shopping.
Today’s look is an outfit I would wear to class or wear for a night out. I love putting together outfits that can be worn in different scenarios. I love the subtle pops of color in my outfit. After all, that is what the spring season is all about; driving or walking about and seeing random pops of colorful flowers blooming.
I am obsessing over my loose, flowing tunic from SHEIN. I love the black and white mosaic pattern with subtle hints of blue. Looking to revamp your spring wardrobe? Head over to SHEIN for high-quality, fashionable clothing. You will get lost on their website browsing the selection of tops, sweaters, dresses, rompers, shoes, accessories, and more.
To compliment the black and white in my blouse, I decided to wear my new Zara skinny jeans. I love the fit of these jeans and the color of the denim is very unique. Remember denim doesn’t just have to be shades of blue, so try experimenting with different colors.
A huge shoe trend for Spring 2016 is oxford shoes. I am slowly incorporating this trend into my look, but it is hard to get used to these oxford shoes because they remind me of the shoes I used to wear from elementary to high school with my school uniform. I have to get over that association because these flats are super trendy. I am wearing my charcoal color lace up oxford flats from DSW. Oxford flats can be easily worn in the day and then transitioned to the evening. They are fancier than just your basic pair of flats.
For jewelry, I have added more color to my look by wearing a turquoise stone ring. This ring is actually from my grandma, so it’s special, authentic, and vintage. When I am in the mood to wear rings, my grandma’s pieces are my go-to.
It feels great to be back in the blogging world and to be a blonde blogger. How do you all like my hair? Hope you are all enjoying the first few weeks of spring. Go outside, embrace the new season, and of course the new fashion trends.
When temperatures rise above 60 degrees, it is the perfect day to walk the streets of New York City and explore Central Park. If this warm weather pattern continues, it is safe to say that spring has sprung. Nothing was better than welcoming the warm weather than being in New York City. I had a wonderful time visiting all my favorite shops uptown and having a nice picnic lunch in the sun, sitting on one of the massive rocks in Central Park. Best part about this trip to the city was that I didn’t have to plan my outfit around my winter coat. I hope I can retire my heavy winter coat for the season. I decided to “dress down” and showcase my casual style, what I like to call my street style, since a day in New York City consists of strolling up or down your favorite streets and avenues.
Don’t expect too much from this post. I’m just giving you the details of my outfit because I was not planning on doing an outfit post until my mom insisted on taking a few photos with my phone and then “BAM” I turned this into a quick post.
This season, I am trying to experiment with different denim because denim does not only have to be skinny jeans, so I decided to break out my favorite Madewell boyfriend jeans. Remember them from this post back in the summer? It was so warm out I could have easily gotten away with wearing a dress, but I am not ready to show the world my pale winter legs, maybe next time. I paired my distressed denim with a lightweight sweater from Forever 21, tucked in, to give my look a slouchy, laid-back vibe. To turn my sweater from boring to more exciting, I am wearing my new springtime scarf from Madewell. I love the bright coral color and the fringe tassels. To incorporate the pattern mixing trend, I chose to introduce a new pattern to my outfit by adding my leopard slip on sneakers from Target. Lastly, because I was doing some shopping, my cross-body bag from Fossil was a necessity. Everyone always gives me a puzzled look when they see this bag. They always wonder if it is portraying a face. That is the beauty of art and fashion; it all depends on the individuals’ interpretation.
I can’t wait to style some of the new pieces I bought on my recent New York City shopping trip. Just a heads up, the next time you see me on my blog, I might be blonde. I’ve been a little bored of late and have been thinking of trying something bold and different. What would you think of me as going platinum blonde? After all, life is to short to be boring. Talk to you all soon!
Spotted On Campus
I have been stressing for a week now over my first biology test of the semester. I have not taken a physical science course since high school, so it makes sense why I am stressing. Liv and science just doesn’t mix well. After a night of studying, I finished my biology exam in 20 minutes. The 50 multiple-choice questions were basic, so fingers crossed I hope I aced the test.
Since I finished my exam quickly, I had extra time in my schedule to relax before my next class, so what better way to relax than write a very short style post for you all.
It’s not a long post, since I have to get back to work and read Act 2 of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (BORING). I wanted to show you all what I normally wear to class. I call it my campus style. Usually the night before I mentally plan my outfit for the next day. This way when my alarm goes off and I am still in a daze, I can rub my sleepy eyes and have some idea of what to wear for the day.
I have sort of a “formula” in dressing for class. It starts with leggings or jeans, a sweater or poncho, a scarf, earrings and a necklace, and whatever footwear I am currently loving. It is easier than it seems.
Today’s outfit features a few of my favorite pieces from this season, including my tribal print poncho from Lord and Taylor’s, layered over my basic gray long-sleeve top from Zara. Ponchos are my best friends for the cold winter days because I feel like I am wrapped in a blanket. I paired my poncho with my Just USA distressed black jeans. These black jeans are so edgy and can be transitioned from daytime to nighttime with a different top, sweater, and jewelry.
As for accessories, I always like to go to my lucky elephant, so of course I am wearing my gold elephant pendant necklace from Forever 21. No outfit is complete without my Sorel wedges. My 1964 Premium Sorel Wedge Boot has been my go-to winter shoe. They are waterproof, comfortable for my long walks around campus, and fashionable. Plus they give me a little boost in height. Are you still looking for more style inspiration on how to style these Sorel boots, check out previous posts here.
Wow! Time flew. Good thing I looked at the clock because it is time for my next class. I am glad I spent my break being productive writing a new post for you all and showcasing my campus style. Let me know down below what pieces make up your everyday style.
Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up, And Never Give Up
I am certain that everyone has experienced sadness, disappointment, lack of motivation, and so on. It’s only natural, we are human. I am a big fan of quotes. Whenever I feel stuck or down in the dumps I always head to Pinterest and find some inspiring words and phrases to help me keep going. This brings me to the theme of today’s post. It was inspired by one of my recently discovered quotes “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.”
After reading this phrase, I decided to pull myself together, head to my closet and pick out an outfit that makes me look good and feel good. Of course, I had to choose my faux fur vest. My Design Lab faux fur vest just radiates confidence. I love the color blocked detail, featuring shades of red, cream, black, and tan. Such a versatile piece you can layer it over a dress, pair it with leather pants, or a simple pair of jeans, like I did today. These are not just any pair of jeans, they are my new favorite high-riser jeans from Madewell. The soft black color is a different twist than your usual blue denim, plus it really makes the warm colors in my vest pop.
For the rest of my outfit, I am wearing a simple, black sweater from Target to provide extra warmth under my vest, perfect for those long walks to class. Dangling from my neck is my La Cle key necklace. After all, if you remember from my first post featuring the necklace, the bronze color resembles strength, and certainly everyone needs extra strength throughout the day.
Lastly, the perfect way to strut your stuff on campus and show others that nothing will get in your way is slipping on your best shoes. I am wearing my new Steve Madden suede wedges. I love how these wedges are day-time and class-time appropriate but adds extra glam to any look.
Although fashion is not the end all cure to the blues, it certainly can make days when you are feeling down just suck a little less. No matter how you feel remember “this too shall past” (another one of my favorite quotes).
Christmas Is In The Air
On Christmas morning, I woke up to a Christmas tree surrounded by gifts and the love from my dad, mom, sister, and of course my puppy brother Griffin. That morning, my family and I exchanged gifts, but most importantly we exchanged laughter and love.
Christmas day is pretty low key. Ever since I could remember, Christmas day has always been hosted at my house. I am so lucky that my family all lives so close, so we can all celebrate the joyous day together. Although, I was in the comfort of my own home, I still took the opportunity to showcase my love for fashion and dress up; after all it is Christmas.
Instead of the classic little black dress, I decided to switch it up and wear an olive colored dress. I bought this dress featuring a skater silhouette from Forever 21 last week and I have already worn it a couple times. Layer it with a sweater, a vest, and so on and you have one complete and stylish outfit.
In my opinion, there are two essentials for the holiday season, faux fur and sparkles. I am saving the sparkles for New Years Eve, but for Christmas I decided to break out my favorite faux fur vest. My black faux fur vest is from Macy’s and matches perfectly with my deep green colored dress. My vest makes my outfit more dressed up and of course more chic.
To dress up my look ever more, I decided to bust out my favorite heeled combat boots from Marshalls. You know the ones I featured in my last style post? But if you don’t remember check out my previous post here.
Although, I feel like my faux fur vest completes my outfit, I thought my look needed one more accessory. Lastly, to tie together the black and brown in my outfit I wore my long statement necklace from Forever 21. This necklace features a gold etched half circle pendant and black colored gems, perfectly matching all the shades featured in my look.
I hope everyone had a great holiday. For me, Christmas 2015 was a success because it was a day filled with joy, love, and happiness. My favorite gifts included a new winter coat, Steve Madden heeled booties, another faux fur vest, tons of coloring books, and gift cards.
I know these next few weeks will be filled with putting together new outfits and of course featuring them on my blog. Thank you for all the sweet comments and support. Without my readers, LivForStyle would not exist. Only a few more days left in 2015, remember to make the best out of the remaining days.
All Bundled Up
The title of this blog post is very misleading because I have been anything but bundled up the past few days. The East Coast is experiencing the warmest December ever. I’ve only worn my winter coat once, but like I said in my previous post, I am not complaining. I have no desire to see snow or bear the frigid temperatures of a normal northeast winter. Although, it has been warmer than usual, it is still cold enough to wrap myself up in my favorite blanket scarf.
The plaid blanket scarf trend has exploded this winter season. Now everyone is keeping warm with this stylish accessory. The best part about blanket scarves is they are so large you can style them in many different ways. You can wear it as a shawl, just around your neck, loop it once or a few times, belt it, or my personal favorite is folding it into a triangle and looping it around my neck. The triangle fold makes the scarf less bulky.
The star of my outfit is my plaid blanket scarf from Ruby Claire Boutique. The warm, rich colors go with all of my favorite pieces in my closet, so styling this scarf was a no brainer. Plus, the scarf is so comfy and cozy; you won’t want to take it off. For more stylish clothes and accessories, head over to Ruby Claire Boutique. You won’t be disappointed.
I feel like Superman, I mean Superwoman in my long cardigan from Forever 21. Whenever the wind blows, my sweater turns into a cape. Too bad it can’t make me fly, but my sweater certainty scores major style points. The neutral, cream color is so versatile, the sweater looks great with jeans, leggings, or layered over a dress.
Today there is a brisk breeze, so I am wearing a basic white long sleeve shirt from Old Navy under my sweater. It adds just the right amount of warmth.
You can’t go wrong with a medium wash pair of jeans. They go with everything. I am loving my denim jeans from the brand Just Black, purchased at Ruby and Jenna.
Even though I am 5’-4”, I need some extra height today while wearing my sweater. I am obsessed with heeled boots this winter because they make me look taller and my legs look longer, plus anytime I wear heels I always feel like a superstar. I purchased these shoes from Marshalls on one of my shopping study breaks two weeks ago. I was in desperate need of retail therapy so I am glad Marshalls had some great finds.
Only 2 more days until Christmas…when did that happen? I think it’s a good time to start wrapping gifts and picking out my outfits for the holiday festivities. Stay tuned for more style posts. Hope everyone made it on Santa’s nice list 😉 HO HO HO!
Alleluia! Finals are over! Yesterday I handed in my last final and officially completed my first semester of junior year. Like always, the semester flew. I can’t believe I only have three more semesters until graduation. Such a scary thought. My fall semester was very fun until you come back from Thanksgiving break and you realize you have three seven page papers due and two finals to take the following week. Luckily, I did survive and manage to complete all my assignments on time but I could not have done it without coffee and my Out of Print clothing.
Since I spent most of my mornings, afternoons, and nights studying and writing essays, I kept my outfits simple and comfortable. I didn’t want to completely abandon my love of looking stylish, but I didn’t always have time to plan outfits, so I stuck with the basics, like leggings, a sweatshirt, a vest, and slip on sneakers.
Starting from the bottom with my new favorite shoes. My shoes summed up my mood during finals week. I was so over the early mornings writing essays and long nights studying. I love these unique and sassy shoes from Circus by Sam Edelman. Even better, I scored a great deal on these designer shoes on Black Friday.
For my pants, I am just wearing basic black leggings from Cotton On. Nothing to interesting, but I could not live without leggings.
No surprise here, but again I am wearing my Old Navy black puffer vest. Since it has been a very warm December (I am not complaining) all I need is my fleece-lined vest to keep warm on the long walk to the library or campus coffee shop.
Next, the main piece of my outfit is my sweatshirt from Out of Print. Out of Print offers a variety of products, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, pouches, mugs, and so on. Best part is that when you buy one of their products, the company donates a book to a community in need and also supports authors, publishers, and artists to continue to be inspired and showcase their talent. My Out of Print Library Stamp Sweatshirt is super soft and features a vintage library stamp-inspired pattern. So unique! It is perfect for finals week because the sweatshirt is so comfortable and the pattern speaks to me, considering I spent many days and nights at the library.
For accessories, my tote bag brings back some childhood memories. I loved reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Such a classic! Of course, I am in love with my Out of Print tote bag that features the cover of my favorite childhood book. In my tote you can find my laptop and all my notebooks and textbooks needed to ace my finals. Also tucked in my tote bag is my pencil pouch which also came from Out of Print. My Composition Notebook Pouchholds all my pens and highlighters, and perfectly matches the book theme.
Now that finals are over, I look forward to the holidays, relaxing at home, and posting more and more on the blog. Let the blogger brainstorm session begin, which means if you have any ideas let me know in the comments below. Talk to you all soon!
Hooray for the poncho trend, which comes in handy for those crisp, fall mornings when you just feel like showing up to class wrapped in a warm comfy blanket. A poncho is basically a warm piece of fabric that drapes across your body. It’s hard to find something more comfy, cozy, and stylish than a poncho. It’s so easy to style your poncho with jeans or leggings, a simple long-sleeve shirt, boots, and minimal jewelry. You’ll look like you’re walking down the runway, when in reality you did not want to leave your bed that morning.
The poncho featured in today’s post is from Forever 21. I love the tribal design and all the deep red, orange, gray, and navy shades. This poncho features all the colors of fall, making it a great piece to wear for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. If you are looking for a poncho to wear for Thanksgiving, try Forever 21. They have a huge variety of colors and designs. The best thing about ponchos is the loose fit, so go ahead indulge in that extra slice of pumpkin pie.
Since my poncho flows over most of my body, I decided to wear a basic black long-sleeve shirt from Old Navy. Most of the time, your shirt is hidden behind your poncho, so keep it basic. Speaking of keeping it basic, my pair of simple black leggings from Madewell complete the comfy, cozy style I was going for today.
For jewelry, I am featuring my new elephant necklace from Apricot Lane. Nothing is better than wearing an elephant around your neck for some extra strength and fortune throughout the day.
Nothing completes a fall look without a pair of boots. I found these taupe colored suede booties by Steve Madden in the back of my closet. I must have bought them at the end of the fall season last year and totally forgot about them. I love the detail on the back, so unexpected and eye-catching. Can’t wait to wear them with many more fall outfits.
The poncho is a different take on your typical fall sweater. I have two ponchos in my wardrobe, but my collection is growing. Continue the discussion below, telling me if you are on board with the poncho trend. I would love to hear your thoughts! Until next time…
Before The Sun Sets
Daylight saving time has really hit me hard. And, in case you didn’t know it is “saving” not “savings.” It’s been a week and I still can’t get used to the time change. Walking back from class at five o’clock and it is pitch black outside really makes me long for spring. Plus, by like seven o’clock I am so ready for bed. I guess this only means one thing…the winter is coming!
It was such a beautiful day so I could not let the day pass without going outside to take a few photos. Sadly, I had class until late afternoon so I rushed home to make sure I had time to snap some photos before the sun went down. The sun was just setting, hence the darker look and random orange spots on my head.
I always like to look nice for class. Although, most people probably do not notice, I feel more confident and energized when I am “dressed up.” Don’t get me wrong, sweat pants are so comfortable but I do not think they are appropriate for class, no matter how many times you have pressed that snooze button. After classes is another story, that is where you will find me in my lounge attire. Here’s a peek of what I normally wear to class.
Who wouldn’t feel like a star while wearing this sweater? My new taupe and black star patterned sweater is from H&M. The bold pattern on my sweater is enough to make a statement, no jewelry required.
Are you getting sick of seeing me wear my Old Navy vests? I hope not because I can’t stop wearing them. I actually bought another one in a cream color last week. My obsession continues. My Old Navy fleece-lined puffer vest adds extra warmth and style to any outfit.
The jeans I’m wearing are from Madewell. Last spring, I bought these “cargo green” colored jeans (even though the green color is not showing up as vibrant in these photos). I always thought this green color was for the spring time, but I am determined to make them work for the fall. The perfect way to transition them into the fall is by pairing them with a dark colored sweater.
My sparkly, eye-catching flats are by Steve Madden. To play up another pattern and incorporate more neutral colors, I always choose these shoes.
Finally, my class day is over. Now time to put on some leggings and a baggy sweatshirt and relax. I can’t wait to show you another one of my class day outfits. Until then, go out and enjoy the beautiful season of fall. Before we know it, there will be snow on the ground.
Sweater: H&M | Vest: Old Navy | Jeans: Madewell | Shoes: Steve Madden | Earrings: Forever 21
Nothing is better than escaping college life by getting in the car, going off campus, and doing some shopping, even if it is by yourself. A few days ago I found out that retail therapy does exist. I was feeling a little down, and decided to pick myself up with something I love to do and that something is shopping. I was pretty bummed that nobody was around to go on a shopping trip with me, but what I found is that a little me time is just what I needed to overcome my blues.
On another note, it has been such a warm fall in New England. I am so scared that by pointing this out, I’ll jinx the weather and tomorrow there will be a snow storm. But, I am enjoying this “Indian Summer” because I get to wear a typical fall outfit, jeans, sweater, and boots without shivering. Like I always say fall fashion is the best fashion.
Today’s outfit features two new pieces from my latest shopping trip. I like to call the “sweater” I am wearing, a scarf with sleeves. Just imagine your favorite scarf with sleeves draped over your body. I found this unique piece at Apricot Lane. I love the deep emerald and burgundy colors, as well as the fringe detailing at the bottom. To let the shawl be the focal point, a white t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt is all you need to wear underneath.
A spontaneous trip to Old Navy left me with a shopping bag full of new items which included two vests (I feature one here) and a pair of jeans. Their Rockstar High Rise Skinny Jeans have become my favorite jean because of their comfortable fit. I also love the distressed detail because who doesn’t love holes in their jeans?
To bring out more of the rich shades of fall, I am wearing my purple amethyst gem stone necklace from H&M. My philosophy is the more color the better.
For shoes, last year’s Burlington Coat Factory studded booties have been my go-to. They are falling apart, but I refuse to retire these shoes. I am in dire need of a new pair of booties. Any suggestions?
That’s it for today’s post. Like the title above says, my jeans and shawl have been on repeat. Whether worn together or with different pieces from my wardrobe, they certainly have made a statement this fall. Share with me in the comments below your fall outfit that has been on repeat?

Autumn Days Are Here Again
From bright green leaves to rich red leaves, from hot, humid days to crisp, chilly afternoons, from lightweight dresses to chunky sweaters, from strappy sandals to knee high boots… autumn days are here again.
Hands down, autumn is my favorite season. I love the changing leaves, the cool air, the pumpkin spice lattes, and of course the fall fashion. One thing that I don’t love about the month of October, the heart of the fall season, is midterms, which is why I have been so absent from my site. Once October hits, I spend the majority of my days and nights writing essays and studying for midterm exams. This leaves me little to no time to explore, take photos, and upload to my blog. Luckily, the next few weeks of the semester are not as hectic. Well at least I hope. So more blog posts are coming your way.
Lately, my fall wardrobe has been looking like this: jeans, sweater, vest, and boots. Can’t go wrong with that combination. My cropped sweater is from H&M. I love everything about this sweater, especially the deep green color, the high neck, and the length. Turtlenecks and high necks are so “hot” for the fall season. Although this sweater is super warm, I decided to add more layers for those cool mornings when I am walking to my early classes. I used to hate vests because I found them pointless without sleeves, but I must have turned over a new leaf (no pun intended) because I am obsessed with vests. My black, puffer vest from Old Navy is the perfect addition to any outfit. The best thing about this vest is that it is lined with fleece making it a great transition piece for fall. My favorite pair of Madewell skinny jeans completes this fall look. As for accessories, I decided to wear a long, triangular shaped necklace from Forever 21. A little extra bling didn’t hurt anyone.
I saved the best for last…my shoes. These 1964 Premium Wedge Boot from Sorel is everything I look for in a shoe…style, comfort, and a little height. These Sorel boots are the perfect combination of leather and canvas and are waterproof for those unexpected fall showers or even worse, those early snow flurries. I love the black, tan, navy, and green colors featured, hence why I wore a green sweater to bring out the color of my laces. Lately, I cannot style an outfit without incorporating my Sorel boots because they are best for autumn days.
I hope everyone is enjoying the fall season. Tis’ the season to jump in a pile of leaves, carve a pumpkin, go apple picking, but no matter what you do, enjoy the autumn days because before you know it winter will be here, and that’s my least favorite season.
All About The Details
Boring outfits are so last season. I love taking simple pieces and adding fun accessories turning my outfit from drab to fab. Today’s post highlights my new colorful bag from Upcycled Styles. My embellished cross body bag causes heads to turn and it never fails to get people inquiring as to where I found such a unique item.
The answer is Upcycled Styles. This registered Thai company upholds and follows a Fair Labor and Child Labor policy. Upcycled Styles strives to promote ethical working conditions to make sure each of their workers have access to life essentials and education to succeed in life. Upcycled Styles works closely with the Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand and showcases these artisans’ talents and creativity.
I found out that my bag was made by a group of ten gifted women. All of them added their personal touch to my bag and I couldn’t be more proud to wear it. I enjoy wearing this bag knowing that not only does it look good, but I am doing good promoting a company that practices fair work practices.
The colors, pattern, and fringe give this purse a boho vibe, which we all know is my favorite style.
My casual, laid back look would not be complete without this black and white checkerboard print shirtdress from Zara. With long sleeves and dark colors, it makes for a great piece to wear as the weather transitions from summer to autumn.
When in doubt, for shoes, I always turn to my black Converse. Simple, sporty, and stylish. Perfect.
Since this dress has a low neck, the perfect accessory is a short necklace. I love my black suede cord necklace with inspirational words. This motivates throughout the day.
I added more to my look by sporting a pair of multi colored sunglasses. Thanks to a random street vendor in New York City, these sunglasses are my go-to pair when I want to feel extra cool.
If you are looking for unique, colorful, detailed bags, wallets, clothes, and accessories, look no further than Upcycled Styles. As you can see, I am obsessed with their eye-catching bags and will be giving away a very special bag to one of my readers. Interested in winning this colorful, statement bag? It’s easy; just leave me a comment telling me how you would style a popular Upcycled Styles bag.
I Love My Boyfriend (Jeans)
Who needs a boyfriend when you have a pair of fabulous jeans? Sadly, there’s no man in my life; however, I am in a committed relationship with my new boyfriend jeans from Madewell.
It wasn’t until recently, I jumped on the boyfriend jeans bandwagon. It seems like the skinny jean trend has died out. Now all the buzz is about slouchy, shapeless jeans. Every time I try on a pair of boyfriend jeans, I feel stupid and out of place; however that changed when I took a risk and bought a pair of boyfriend jeans. It has taken some time for me to get use to the fit because I have been so use to tight fitting jeans. Now that I am use to boyfriend jeans, I am obsessed with the loose, comfy fit. Best part about boyfriend jeans is they are so easy to style. One pair of boyfriend jeans can create several outfits. I have seen these jeans paired with blazers, t-shirts, wedges, boots, sneakers, stilettos, and so on.
I love the look of my Madewell boyfriend jeans. I think the distressed design gives my jeans a laidback look. Hands down, Madewell has the best jeans and that means a lot coming from someone who has always hated jeans. One of my favorite ways I’ve seen bloggers style boyfriend jeans is with a simple, solid V-neck tee. My $5 black V-neck shirt from H&M perfectly matched my jeans and the style I was going for.
Usually I don’t wear statement accessories, but this outfit needed a long necklace. Whenever I want to add the boho style to an outfit, I choose my Lucky Brand necklace, which features gold charms and pops of turquoise beads. As I mentioned above, boyfriend jeans look great with really any type of shoe. For me, I love wearing these leopard slip-on sneakers from Target. Every outfit needs a little leopard, don’t you agree? It was a super hot and sunny day. No matter what the temperature is I always want to wear my boyfriend jeans; the things I do for fashion. To shield my eyes from the sun, I chose to wear my rounded sunglasses from Urban Outfitters.
Next time you are shopping, pick up a pair of boyfriend jeans, even if you don’t think you will look good in them. The decision to buy my first pair of boyfriend jeans was well worth it. Here’s to being single and ready to mingle, of course while wearing my boyfriend jeans.
Since I spend most of my days and nights working on my blog, visiting my favorite fashion blogs, reading about the latest trends, and of course online shopping, my style is constantly changing. I have been inspired to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with different styles, patterns, and colors.
Enter this bright, colorful dress. Before we say goodbye to summer and we start dressing in more dark colors, I decided to find a fun, colorful summer dress. Thanks to this spaghetti strapped tie-dye print dress from the online store Zaful, I was able to capture more of summer before the fall months begin.
Zaful is your one-stop online shop offering a huge selection of stylish dresses, rompers, tops, sweaters, jeans, and the list goes on. It’s the perfect online shop for fashionistas to find affordable and stylish clothes, allowing them to keep up with the latest trends. I love how Zaful sells quality clothing, shoes, and accessories from up and coming designers so everyone can find something that is unique to their style.
Certainly, my dress makes a colorful statement, so I did not need many accessories. I paired this dress with a light colored denim vest from Forever 21. I always like to wear a vest, jacket, or sweater with a summer dress to complete the look. Plus, I am always cold, so an extra layer is a must for me. My summer time dress could easily be styled with sandals, but for a more casual, sporty look I wore my slip on white Converse. I finished off my look with a long charm necklace with inspiring words, my LOFT sunglasses, and my hair in a braid to keep it out of my face. This look proves that sometimes the simplest outfits make the biggest statement.
On another note, I can’t believe summer is coming to an end. I have been so busy preparing for my junior year of college and creating new content for my blog. Let me know in the comments below how all of you are spending the last few weeks of summer?
Key to Happiness
We think of a key as an instrument of openings and closings. This small object, usually made of metal, can also symbolize mystery and curiosity. The key introduced in this post isn’t used to open my car, or my house, or any door for that matter, but instead it’s used to accessorize one of my favorite outfits.
Recently, I connected with Deena Saracino, who created the brand La Cle (which means Key in French). I love supporting fellow entrepreneurs and La Cle’s motto “look good, feel good, and do good with one single piece of jewelry” is a powerful phrase that speaks volumes.
Le Cle uses repurposed vintage keys, making each necklace unique. I chose a bronze key, not only because I love bronze jewelry but also because it signifies strength and energy. I wear this necklace every chance I get, not only because it’s a trendy piece but over time the color of your key fades, symbolizing the positive energy you absorb from the key.
For me, this necklace is not just a chain with a key; it represents strength and energy that I believe is the key to happiness (no pun intended).
As for the rest of my outfit, my colorful embroidered fringed kimono is from LF. I rarely shop at this store because it is just way to expensive. And though I love their unique and trendy clothes, I can’t justify spending over $200 for one item. Maybe if I win the lottery I can stock my closet with LF, but for right now the only time I shop at LF is during their yearly sidewalk sales. Their sidewalk sales never fail to impress with dresses, sweaters, jeans, shorts, and kimonos all under $50. This fringed number caught my eye. I love trying out new styles and this kimono totally channeled my inner “wild child”.
For this outfit all eyes are on my necklace and kimono. So I kept it simple with a black shift dress from Target. This dress has been getting a lot of use this summer because it’s so easy to style and looks great, especially with kimonos or statement necklaces.
Finally, I found myself a pair of platform shoes. I have been eyeing a platform styled shoe for quite a while now, but didn’t want to spend big bucks on a pair of shoes I wasn’t sure if I could pull off the look. Luckily, during a recent trip to Target I found these platform inspired shoes on sale for only $12. The only good thing about the end of summer is the end of season clearance sections at most stores. These shoes totally added more of that free spirit style to my look.
Since, I took these photos in the middle of the afternoon the summer sun was high in the sky, so of course I needed a pair of sunglasses. Today, I am featuring a new pair from The Loft that adds just the right pop of color.
Back to the title of my post. What’s my key to happiness? For me, my key to happiness is the love and support from family and friends, my doggie Griffin, my blog, my love of fashion, and this fabulous necklace and kimono.
Adventures at the Zoo
Flashback to fourth grade, my 10-year-old self is bursting with excitement on the bus heading to the Bronx Zoo. The zoo was the best field trip in elementary school. Dressed in my school’s gym uniform, friends by my side, and my mom as a chaperone, it was a trip that went in the memory book.
Flash forward to now; my 20-year-old self experienced that same feeling of anticipation when my dad wanted to take me and my older sister to the Bronx Zoo. Even in our 20s, my sister and me felt like little kids going on a field trip. Throughout the 40-minute car ride, we mapped out what animals we wanted to see first and what we were looking forward to the most. Of course, I was looking forward to seeing the elephants, giraffes, and tigers.
When we finally arrived at the zoo, it felt like yesterday I was at the Bronx Zoo, not 10 years ago. Our adventure began with lots of walking, lots of animals, and lots of fun.
For this trip to the zoo, I was psyched to put together a zoo-like outfit. Back in fourth grade, my only option was my gray on gray gym uniform with white sneakers. However, on this trip to the zoo my love of elephant prints came into play. It was going to be a hot and humid day and I knew we would be doing a lot of walking, so I went for a comfy look. I decided to wear my elephant printed shorts, a simple flowy black tank, and a crochet short-sleeved sweater to complete the look.
My elephant printed shorts from Marshalls have been my go-to item when I want to be comfortable, yet stylish. I love the bold print, which includes elephants and a tribal design. These shorts were practical for a long day at the zoo. To keep with the effortless, casual theme, I matched my shorts with a simple black tank, also from Marshalls. To accent the shorts and tank, I layered the tank with a kimono like sweater from Apricot Lane, which gave my look a boho vibe. For shoes, I matched my outfit with simple, black sandals. Although these sandals from Forever 21 are not the most comfortable, I survived. Since we all know that I am obsessed with elephants, I accessorized my look with my favorite elephant necklace from Etsy. Although my outfit was not the typical safari uniform, I still had fun incorporating prints of animals I was going to see at the zoo.
The highlight of my trip was spending quality time with my dad and sister. My favorite exhibits included the tigers, giraffes, sea lions, and polar bears. I was so happy we had the chance to ride the Wild Asia Monorail, the Bronx Zoo’s famous attraction. On the monorail, we saw all sorts of animals, including exotic deer, monkeys, red pandas, rhinos, and of course elephants. I caught a glimpse of the zoo’s only elephant, named Happy. Although so big and strong, Happy was so cute. I wanted to take her home, but I don’t think she would fit in the car.
It was great to spend a day off, doing something different than the usual hanging by the pool or going shopping. Being at the Bronx Zoo brought back old memories and of course created new ones too, like when my sister freaked out when a peacock came close to her when we were eating lunch. What a scaredy cat. After going to the Bronx Zoo, I am ready to go for a real safari ride through the jungle and desert.
Color, Texture, and Wood
Happy July. It seems like it takes forever for summer to arrive, but when it does, it just flies by. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.
Today’s post highlights more of my summer style and how I’ve been styling some of my new purchases. Zara is my go to destination when they are having their annual sale. It’s a HUGE sale where every piece of clothing is marked down and keeps getting marked down throughout the weeks. Working in the city this summer, I feel like I’ve become a real New Yorker and I seem to do most of my shopping in the city because I think of NYC as the world’s biggest continuous shopping mall. You can find all your favorite stores in multiple locations throughout the city (uptown, downtown, and midtown). So if one store doesn’t have your size or a good selection just walk a few blocks or hop on the subway and you’re sure to find that same favorite store at another location.
Each day when I hop off the train and sprint out of Grand Central Station to my internship I pass by a Zara store. The big bright “sale” signs are calling my name and I can’t help but to wander in. Oops! Well not oops for me but oops for my wallet. On my last visit, I purchased three unique pieces. An awesome dress, top, and a fabulous skirt I am featuring in this post.
I am obsessed with the woven texture and bright colors of this skirt. The Aztec styled print makes this skirt a summer hit. This skirt is a perfect 10 and the best part is that it was a real bargain at $25. Score! This skirt deserves all the attention so I kept the rest of my outfit very simple. I paired it with a cream colored shirt from Forever 21. If you look closely the shirt has a few holes in it. I promise it’s part of the design. I think the distressed look adds something to just a boring t-shirt. For shoes, I’m wearing my favorite summer time sandals. I picked these up last year at DSW. They’re from an Italian designer but without the designer price tag. They were such a bargain and are the perfect sandal to make a statement and add a little height with the small heel.
This simple Forever 21 t-shirt needs a necklace. I’m wearing my granite stone necklace from Brandy Melville. I wear this necklace when I want to bring out more color. I love how the earthy purple tones perfectly match the bright shades in my skirt.
What? I’m wearing something on my wrist? Shocker, I know. When it comes to jewelry I usually keep it very simple with just a necklace and earrings unless I find a bracelet or in this case a watch that I really, really like.
This trendy watch is from the Jord line. Jord watches are unique because they are hand crafted from natural wood. The color and grain patterns may vary, making each one an individual piece. No watch is quite the same. I love how the main feature of the watch is the wood, making it a sustainable and of course fashionable statement. The watch I am sporting today is from the Ely series. I love the smaller dial and band with date display, as well as the natural green and maple color. Something about this color looks great against my sun-kissed skin and can be worn everyday, with any outfit, either dressy or casual.
I usually rely on my smart phone to tell the time but this watch is functional as well as a sporty touch of arm candy. A smart time piece to help keep on schedule is important for any busy girls life. Let me know what you think about Jord Watches? Will you be adding one of their trendy pieces to your watch collection?
Lazy Days of (Almost) Summer
Technically summer has not officially begun. The official start to summer is June 21st; however to me summer began the minute I handed in my last final exam. So far my summer has kicked off to a busy start. I’m currently balancing three jobs, an internship in the city, a sales associate at a retail store, and hopefully one of your favorite bloggers. With all the running around and trying to keep up with my schedule, I have barely had time to breathe which is why most of my recent blog posts have been written on the train. I like to call this multi-tasking at its finest. It’s very rare for me to have a day off, but when I do, I try to make the best of it. On those rare days to myself, I like to catch up on my sleep, catch up on all my favorite blogs, and head outside to explore and capture pictures for upcoming posts. That is my idea of relaxation. I’m not complaining about my busy schedule. I like to keep busy. Especially being in the city three times a week. The city has become my second home and hope I can call it my official home in the next few years.
In my opinion, all summer clothes are super comfy. Nothing is better than throwing on a dress or a skirt and not having to worry about tights, a heavy winter coat, and boots. Today I decided to dress super casual because I finally had a day off, so jean shorts, a crop tee, and sneakers it is.
I love my high-waisted distressed denim jean shorts from American Eagle. I bought them last summer and they are still my go to pair. The light wash pairs well with any shirt.
On one of my recent Forever 21 shopping trips I saw this interesting crop tee. I have to admit I am not a big fan of crop tees because I think sometimes they can be a little too revealing. I like this tee because it’s not super cropped and when paired with high-waisted shorts it just shows the right amount of skin. Not only do I like the green tie dye pattern but look how neat the back of the shirt looks. It’s a destroyed back that shows some skin so of course I just wore a bandeau underneath. This top is perfect for a hot summer day because it’s so lite and comfy.
Like I said, one of my favorite things to do on my days off is to explore and you can’t explore without comfortable shoes, so that’s why I chose to wear my white converse. I love my Shoreline Slip On Edition Converse because you just slip them on and don’t worry about tying them. Plus they make any outfit sportier and more casual.
In case you were wondering I am still obsessed with elephants. Shout out to my best friend Jennie for giving me this amazing gold elephant charm necklace. I have been getting so much use out this necklace because it’s so delicate and simple.
You can’t forget about sunglasses. I recently rediscovered my sunglasses drawer and I can’t believe how many pairs I have and all different styles, shapes, and colors. I love buying inexpensive pairs at Forever 21 and H&M so you always have a style on hand based on any mood. Today I was feeling groovy in my aviator sunglasses from H&M for a laid back vibe.
It’s crazy summer hasn’t even started yet and I have accomplished so much. Kudos to me for being so productive. I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer. Enjoy the sunshine. Stay tuned for my next post!
Walking into your favorite clothing store, I am certain you will find an extensive selection of kimonos. Kimonos long, short, patterned, colorful and some maybe with fringe or tassels, so it’s safe to say you will find a kimono that will suit your personal style.
I like to call kimonos the summer sweater. They aren’t as heavy as a sweater so you can wear them in the summer heat without dying of heatstroke. They’re just a light piece of fabric that perfectly drapes your body to complete any outfit. My favorite way to wear a kimono is with a simple dress. I like this approach because sometimes dresses can just be boring without proper accessorizing. Kimonos are the perfect way to finish off a look and add more style.
I’ve had the best luck finding kimonos at Forever 21, H&M, Cotton On, and TJMaxx. But like I said kimonos are so popular this season you can pretty much find a kimono anywhere. I love kimonos that feature beautiful prints, lovely colors and maybe even some fringe detailing. I usually go with kimonos that have some sort of neutral color present like black, gray, or cream. The neutral colors allow me to pair my kimono with a variety of pieces in my closet like a simple dress, romper, or jeans, which allows the eye-catching colors, and patterns of the kimono to really pop.
Today’s outfit features a variety of Forever 21 items. On a recent shopping spree at Forever 21, I was impressed with many of their new summer items and of course I wanted them all. I love wearing dresses during the summer, so I bought this acid washed dress. Again it’s a simple gray color that can be worn in many ways but as you can see my favorite statement is to wear it with a kimono. My long floral kimono is also from Forever 21 and it features a similar gray color that matches the dress but also has beautiful pops of red and black. It’s a nice length with a few slits in the kimono to give it a flowing look
I kept my jewelry minimal because I like to balance my outfits. When I wear a kimono I like to keep the jewelry simple or if I choose to wear a statement necklace I like to keep everything else simple. Balance is key (no pun intended because my necklace is a key) but I really love this simple, dainty silver key necklace from Forever 21. It goes with any outfit. Perfect for when you’re looking to add a little bit of bling. I rarely wear bracelets. It’s just one jewelry item I always forget but today I choose my BCBG charm bracelet because it goes with the silver and gray themes of my outfit.
As for shoes, you can’t go wrong with a simple pair of black sandals from Forever 21. They match any outfit perfectly.
Kimono loving is the title of this post because I love my kimonos this season. In fact I have a whole section in my closest dedicated to kimonos. I’m certain another one of my favorite kimonos will make an appearance in an upcoming post. Let me know in the comments how you feel about the kimono trend? Do you totally love it or can you do without it? If you like the kimono look tell me some of your favorite ways to style a kimono?
Trend Alert: Bright Colored Hair
Coloring your hair is all the rage now. Bright colored hair is not just for punk rockers or circus clowns; instead women of all ages are experimenting with new color dyes for their hair. The bright colored hair trend is especially popular among celebrities, like Kylie Jenner, Hilary Duff, Katy Perry, and Nicole Richie. Celebs are embracing beautiful shades of pink, blue, and purple. These beautiful hues are soft and fun and can make anyone look like a mythical unicorn or a mermaid. Who wouldn’t want to look like a mermaid, especially for the summer months?
Color looks great with every skin tone and hair type. Anyone can pull off bright colored hair. The trend is all about being confident and not afraid to flaunt some color.
After reading more about this trend, I noticed that blondes tend to rock more pink and lilac shades, where as brunettes favor blue and turquoise. If you’re ready to say yes to color, I recommend starting off modestly and dying a few strands of hair. The peekaboo streak of color is perfect for those who want to be trendy but have the option to hide the color for those days you aren’t feeling so colorful. A hair dresser can dye a piece of your hair that is easy to style or hide. Dip dyes are also super popular and involve dying the tips of your hair. The best part about dip dyes is that they can be easily removed with a simple trim. Finally, for those who don’t want to risk the health and beauty of their natural hair, try extensions. Extensions are the perfect way to test out color and achieve that mythic look. Don’t forget, to preserve your color by using a color-friendly shampoo that is sulfate free. This will prevent fading and longer lasting vibrant colors.
The real question is how do I feel about this trend? Am I ready to embrace a full head of color? To be honest I don’t think I’m up to sporting the full head of color look anytime soon, but I am open to dying a few strands to sample the look. Although I have only seen this trend on longer hairstyles, I’m tempted to give it a try with my pixie cut.
If I do throw care to the wind, I’ll probably go with a few strands of blue or turquoise. My biggest concern with this look would be how to coordinate this with outfits and accessories, not to mention worrying about how others feel about the look. But, then again with all the celebs embracing the trend maybe there’s a little room for adventure. It’s important to remember that fashion and beauty, whether it’s your clothes, makeup, or hair, is all about expressing yourself and taking risks
I may not be ready to take the step yet, but after writing this post and seeing so many interesting photos, I’m feeling pretty inspired. Who knows but maybe in my next post I’ll be sporting a few colorful streaks in my pixie cut.
How do you feel about this trend? Will you hop on the bandwagon or are you worried what other people might think? Join the discussion below and send me your comments. I’d love to know what you think!
My 20th Birthday
Last week was a crazy week to say the least. I finished my sophomore year of college, packed up my college dorm room, moved back home for the summer, and left my teenage years behind. I celebrated my 20th birthday on Sunday, May 10th. Sunday was a day of celebration because it was not only my birthday but it was also Mother’s Day. Shout out to my beautiful, amazing, and inspiring mom. I was so happy to share my special day with my mom.
I can’t believe I’m no longer a teenager. It’s so weird to be in my 20’s now. It feels like just yesterday I was the little girl with the “mushroom” hair cut. Now it is time to embrace adulthood.
Since my birthday fell on a Sunday, I had a weekend full of celebration surrounded by my family and friends. On Saturday, my older sister, her boyfriend, and my two best friends from college, Jennie and Christina (thank gosh they live close to me, so we can see each other a lot during the summer) took me to my favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner and then we went bowling. The bowling alley was so much fun and the atmosphere was great. It was a night filled with fun, laughs, strikes, spares, and many gutter balls.
On Sunday, my family celebrated the moms and my birthday by hosting a barbeque. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The sun was shining all day and the temperatures were in the 80s. I spent most of the day outside on the patio catching up with the family and playing with my little buddy Griffin. Griffin, our West Highland Terrier, is a fluff ball of energy and has a special place in our family. Of course, he wanted to be part of the photos, so he makes an appearance in some of the pictures. He is such a superstar!
Of course, I wanted to show you my “birthday” style. My outfit was quite simple. My outfit was casual and comfy and just perfect for an outside party. Shift dresses are so in this season and they are a must-have for spring and summer. These dresses are so easy to style around, which makes them perfect for those hot summer days. My t-shirt fabric shift dress is from Target. It’s a basic black dress, so the possibilities are endless when it comes to styling this dress.
Instead of a statement necklace, I chose to wear a patterned scarf from Lucky Brand. I love the rich colors of this scarf and they really pop against the black dress. I didn’t wrap the scarf around my neck but instead chose to knot it on both ends to make it shorter. This really shows off the tassel detailing at the bottom.
One of the fun things of unpacking and reorganizing my room at home was finding some hidden treasures. I completely forgot about these strappy ballet flats, I purchased from Marshall’s last season. They are going to be my staple shoes to wear with dresses, jeans, skirts, and pretty much anything this season. I also rediscovered this Vince Camuto watch in my jewelry collection back home. The neutral color of the watchband will be the perfect accessory for any outfit.
Everyone has been asking me how it feels to be 20? Honestly, it feels no different. I am so thankful I was able to spend my birthday with family and friends. I’m also thankful for the nice birthday gifts I received, especially the gift cards to some of my favorite stores. Now it’s time to get out and shop. Stay tuned for new blog posts featuring my latest style finds. And of course, cheers to my new decade and the fabulous 20s.

The Makeup Show- NYC
On Sunday, May 3rd, I was able to take a much-needed break from studying for finals and took a trip to New York City. Most of my adventures to NYC are special, but this trip was extra special because I was attending my first ever The Makeup Show with my best friend, Christina, by my side.
Coffee in hand, we both boarded the train at 9 A.M. and arrived in the city an hour later. The entire train ride, it felt like I had ants in my pants, or in my case my romper. I was so excited not knowing what to expect. Although this was my first time attending The Makeup Show, this was not my first makeup trade show. Many of my readers know that I have been to IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) three times, so one thing I knew I could count on would be cosmetics galore and meeting countless cosmetic lovers at The Makeup Show.
We really lucked out with the weather on Sunday. It was a beautiful, sunny day with temperatures in the mid 70s. I took advantage of the warm weather by wearing a romper, wedges, and sunglasses. Rompers are my must-have for the spring and summer seasons. I decided to wear my new floral romper from Target. I love the black lace detailing on top coupled with the bright colored floral pattern on the bottom. I knew my romper needed some extra pizazz, so naturally I chose a statement necklace.
This necklace from Apricot Lane was the perfect size because it didn’t take away from the romper. Plus, the necklace was shiny and reflected the colors in my romper.
For shoes, I broke out my favorite Steve Madden wedges. I totally chose style over comfort as the blisters on my feet attest to, but it was worth it because they completed my look beautifully. Lastly, I couldn’t forget a pair of sunglasses to cope with the glare of the New York sidewalks. These black cat-eye shaped glasses from Forever 21 make a great addition to any outfit.
Christina and I spent all morning and afternoon at The Makeup Show.We explored the venue and visited the different makeup tables. We made multiple visits to some of our favoritesThose that garnered a second or third look included Kat Von D, Lit Cosmetics, Nars, andObsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I picked up a few necessities like my favorite Kat Von D liquid eyeliner and a beautiful Nars eye shadow duo. I stepped out of my comfort zone and experimented with beautiful glitter eye shadows from Lit Cosmetics and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I can’t wait to put together beautiful summer looks with my new products, so stay tuned for upcoming posts.
It was wonderful to see Christina experience her first ever makeup trade show. I was so happy to share her excitement over the new makeup brands she discovered, especially the new Mac eye shadow she picked up. I am so glad Christina is part of the LivForStyle team. We’ve incorporated her love for photography with some great shots in this blog post. Christina is not only my college roommate and best friend, but she is a big supporter and valuable contributor to the LivforStyle website.
The Makeup Show lived up to my expectations and more. It was a great day filled with makeup, networking, and friendship. Special days like these are what continue to inspire and motivate me to make the LivForStyle site your go-to site for everything fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Christina and I laughed and smiled on the train all the way back to school. We didn’t want to have to get back to the “reality” of studying for finals and wished the day in NYC could last forever. It was nice to feellike a “press rep” for the day with my best friend by my side.
Come back Friday for a special post. Christina will be my guest blogger, telling you all about her experience at The Makeup Show.
Where did the time go? It’s hard to believe that I finished my last week of classes of my sophomore year of college. It’s been a good semester, filled with lots of fun and of course hard-work. I want to capture one last stylish outfit for what to wear to class before finals begin this week because then I will be living in leggings and t-shirts.
For the most part, I like to look nice for my classes. Although, I am up early for my classes, I still get excited going through my closet and putting together outfits for the day. When I feel stylish, I feel more confident, and more motivated to take on my busy day. On sunny days with temps in the mid 60s, I enjoy wearing a pair of skinny jeans, a short-sleeved shirt, and of course my Converse sneakers. An outfit like this is casual and comfortable for class but not as basic as your typical sweatpants look.
I’m a huge fan of Madewell denim, so naturally I have been enjoying these new jeans from their spring collection. I can’t get enough of their skinny jeans they call the painter editors because of their artfully distressed design. A cool feature of these jeans is that the paint and smudge detailing is different on every pair. These unique jeans will have you looking and feeling great.
I don’t want to draw attention away from the beautiful paint splatter detailing, so I chose to wear a basic, grey short-sleeved shirt from Apricot Lane. I love the fit of the shirt because its nice flow and perfect length.
Of course, I decided to wear my black Converse sneakers. These sneakers have been through it all. Longs days of walking around campus, going to classes, strolling the streets of NYC, and even concerts. I’m surprised they haven’t fallen apart. Although, they are still in great condition, a new pair is on my wish-list. Black Converse are so versatile and they give any outfit a sporty, casual vibe.
In my opinion, the best way to make any outfit less boring is to add a silver statement necklace. My fringe inspired necklace from Forever 21 goes with any shirt and you’ll find the fringe trend is so popular for spring.
Obviously, before I walk out the door for a busy day of classes, I need a bag to carry my books and laptop. My Steve Madden book bag has been with me for the whole school year. It has two pockets, a large one for holding my books and a smaller pocket for other essentials like pens, pencils, hand sanitizer, and of course chewing gum.
Last but certainly not least, I have a delicious French vanilla coffee in hand and I am ready to conquer the day.
It’s been a great semester and now it is time for the real stress to begin. FINALS! Here’s to cup after cup of coffee, a few all-nighters, and a mind and body totally ready for the summer break.

Hands down, one of my favorite things about being a blogger is discovering new shops and brands that offer unique items. I love having the power to share with my readers my style finds from lesser known stores and brands.
Ever since starting my blog, Etsy has become my best friend. For those who are not familiar with Etsy, it’s a website that acts as a marketplace for people to buy and sell unique goods. On Etsy, you can discover hundreds of boutiques selling handmade and vintage items; things you can’t find at your typical mall.
Recently, I was stumbled across a special boutique on Etsy, CharlotteCoutureGlam. I had the pleasure to chat with Tiffany Griffith, the owner of CharlotteCoutureGlam. Tiffany uses jewelry making as her creative outlet. Her pieces emphasize semi-precious stones, gold and sterling silver chains, elaborate beading, and real leather. Each piece is very unique and trendy. She told me she gets most of her inspiration from the beautiful scenery of northern California, where she makes her home. Her jewelry is versatile and you will find many ways to incorporate her pieces as you accessorize your favorite outfit.
After chatting with Tiffany, she was kind enough to gift me one of her favorite items from her collection. She surprised me with a beautifulelephant necklace. I was thrilled and it’s the perfect way to explain the title of this post, “Elephant Obsession”. I have obsessed with elephant jewelry or prints for some time. The symbolism of this magnificent animal can’t be understated. Elephants are said to be symbols of strength, wisdom, and power and in the Hindu culture elephants are revered and hold special importance. Every time I wear something that features an elephant, I am not just showcasing a beautiful and magnificent animal but, a creature that has mystical meaning and importance.
Back to the necklace, this mosaic elephant necklace features beautiful colors, in brass, coral, and gold. It was so easy to style this necklace. I chose to wear a flowing, army green colored shirt from Free People. To add more layers and texture, I wore a crocheted short-sleeve sweater from a local boutique, Apricot Lane. Of course, I had to wear my favorite pair of lightly distressed jeans from Madewell. Finally, you can’t go wrong with a pop of leopard, so I chose to wear my leopard slip ons from Target, which is a spring must-have.
It’s been a good week. I found a new Etsy shop, made a new friend in Tiffany, embraced the beautiful sunny weather, and also discovered my roommate’s awesome photo taking skills. Big shout out to not only my roommate, but also my best friend, Christina for capturing these photos. You are a rock star!
Tiffany wants to gift one of my readers a $50 gift certificate to her boutique, so you can choose your favorite item from her store. Leave a comment below and I will randomly pick a winner by May 12th.

Wishful Thinking: What I Would Wear To Coachella
Happy festival season everyone! Festival season is a time for many electric dance music (EDM), pop, rock, and country shows. Festivals like these happen around the world and are a time for music lovers to come together to experience good music and a full out good time. Since there are so many festivals, I am certain you will find one that celebrates the music you like best. Upcoming festivals include Coachella, Mysteryland, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorowland, Lollapalooza, and Electric Zoo.
In today’s post, I want to focus on one of the more popular music festivals, Coachella, which for most music lovers generally marks the kick-off of the music festival season. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, commonly referred to just as Coachella, is a yearly music and arts festival held in Indio, California. This event features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip-hop, and EDM. It also features an array of art exhibitions. This year Coachella will be celebrated the weekends of April 10th and 17th .
This festival includes popular musical artists, as well as lesser-known groups. Notable artists appearing in the past include Amy Winehouse, Snoop Dog, The Killers, Madonna, Daft Punk, Kayne West, Jay Z, Eminem, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. This year’s festival will include performances by AC/DC, Drake, David Guetta and Florence and the Machine. It’s no wonder why general admission tickets sold out in 20 minutes.
Coachella is not just about the music and art, but there’s also a good dose of fashion. Festival fashion is all about crop tops, concert tees, fringe, floral kimonos, high-waisted jean shorts, floral headbands, and a variety of flash tats. When going to your favorite festival, don’t be afraid to step out of your style comfort zone and use your style as a way to express your creativity.
I put together a few style inspiration boards to show you what I would wear to Coachella if, that is I was actually able to scrounge tickets. I had a lot of fun experimenting with different styles and colors. I chose items that had a bohemian vibe, including warm colors, floral patterns, cream-colored tops and dresses, and fringe. Of course, I had to add a few items with a smiley face design because this concert is all about feeling good and celebrating good vibes. When it comes to shoes, I chose shoes that were comfortable, yet stylish. Combat boots, cowboy boots, and gladiator sandals are a must-have for any festival because you will be on your feet rocking and swaying all day.
If you’re not feeling the boho chic vibe, go for what I like to call the vintage concert style. This style includes concert tees from popular bands, like the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and the Who. These graphic tees will look great paired with high-waisted distressed denim shorts.
As for accessories, don’t forget floppy hats and hippie style glasses to protect your face and eyes from the desert sun. Accessorize your outfit with floral headbands, statement jewelry, and flash tats. The sky is the limit when it comes to dressing for Coachella.
Oh how I wish I could be at Coachella this year, but sadly, I’m stuck on the East coast finishing up a busy Spring semester at school. Luckily, I have access to plenty of photos and videos from Coachella. If any of my readers are going to Coachella, please share what you plan to wear and your experience at the festival. And for those, like me, who won’t be at Coachella, let me know your ideal Coachella outfit.
The Trendiest of Trends: Spring 2015
It is officially spring and how I wish the weather could be warmer and sunnier. I have never been so happy to see grass. To be honest, I almost forgot what grass looked like after our long snowy winter. Now that it is spring, it is time to embrace the spring trends. One of my favorite things to do is visit my favorite clothing stores, view their products, and figure out what trends are popular this season. After countless visits to my favorite stores and many hours spent online shopping, I have come up with a list of the trendiest of trends for spring 2015. Take a look at what follows to see what I’m thinking.
Hands down, fringe is one of my favorite trends this season. Fringe resembles that boho chic style, of which I am a huge fan. I love how you can incorporate this trend into any part of your outfit. Think sweaters, kimonos, jackets, purses, and of course necklaces.
When I think of 1970s fashion, I think bohemian and disco. For the bohemian style, I recommend investing in a pair of flared jeans. Style flared pants with a paisley patterned blouse, a suede jacket, and a floppy hat. Don’t be afraid to incorporate the fringe trend into your outfit because the 70s was all about the fringe look too. If you’d rather dress like you’re ready for the disco, platform shoes and psychedelic glasses are a must.
I am all for being comfortable, yet stylish. Joggers are the perfect mix of comfort and style. Joggers look like sweatpants, but the elastic at the bottom, make them more fitted and sleek and making them socially acceptable to wear in public. A pair of solid grey or black joggers would look great with a simple white t-shirt for a casual outfit great for anywhere. A pair of patterned joggers is perfect for a dressier occasion or even the office.
These sneakers are perfect to wear when you are done wearing your winter boots, but not ready to wear sandals and flip-flops. You can find these types of sneakers everywhere. They can be solid, patterned, affordable, or expensive and you will sure find a pair that fits your personal style. These shoes are great to slip on with a pair of leggings, jeans, or a dress; the possibilities are endless.
One of the great things about fashion is that it is always changing, so although these are some of the popular trends for this season, there are still so many more. Keep your eye out for more posts about popular trends, so this season we can be trendy and fashionable. Tell me about what you are seeing. I’d love to hear from you.
Welcome to New York
On the train ride to the city, I had Taylor Swift’s song Welcome to New York stuck in my head. Seriously, that song is my anthem. For all of you who don’t know, I love New York City. I love the culture, the shopping, and all the possibilities the city has to offer. I hope within the next couple of years, I can call New York City my home. But for now, I take frequent trips to the city that never sleeps.
Last week I was on spring break. It was nice to take a break from college life and spend the week at home, catching up on sleep, relaxing, and working on my blog. One day, I was feeling adventurous and creative, so I hopped on the train and journeyed to New York City. I was determined to take tons of photos for my blog. As always, the streets of New York inspired me and I captured some great shots for this post.
On to my outfit, I refuse to wear my winter coat anymore. I officially retired my coat for the season, despite the weather still being on the chilly side, but once it reached 40 degrees consistently this week, I am so over my bulky winter coat.
On the day I traveled to the city, it was sunny with temperatures in the high 40s. I am always cold so I had to make sure I wore several layers if I wasn’t wearing my coat. My secret was instead of wearing a lightweight long sleeve shirt under my fringe loose fitting sweater, I wore a solid cable knit sweater underneath. This sweater did the trick and I was not cold at all while walking the streets of New York City.
The focus of my outfit was my fringe sweater. Fringe is a popular trend for spring. No matter what store I go into, I always see fringe sweaters, fringe tops, or even fringe bags. I embraced this trend with my Forever 21 cream and black tribal print sweater with fringe detailing on the bottom. Black leggings go with everything, but instead of wearing a simple pair of cotton leggings, I chose to wear my Cotton On leggings in the color washed black. I love how these leggings have a panel detail at the knee, making these leggings more dressy and less boring. Another star of my outfit was my metallic pewter booties. Not only are these boots so unique and stylish but I also found them at Marshalls for only $14. What a steal! These boots will be my go-to for spring, considering they will go with pretty much anything. As always, I kept my jewelry simple with a long Brandy Melville necklace that goes with the black and gold theme of my outfit. To bring some color into my look, I chose turquoise stud earrings.
The city never fails to impress me. Until my next visit, New York City stay fabulous.
Finally Feeling Like Spring
Today, I woke up to the birds chirping and the sun shining through my windows, it is finally starting to feel like spring. This winter has been brutal with all the snow and frigid temperatures. I never thought I would be so excited to see the temperature rise above 40 degrees. It felt like a heat wave. I was determined to make the best out of this beautiful, spring like day so I decided to take my camera outside and explore my surroundings.
I didn’t have a specific outfit planned for this shoot. I am so sick of my worn out winter coat and sweaters so I finally looked through my recent spring purchases and put together an outfit debuting my new pieces.
My Forever 21 long-sleeve top is nothing special, but that’s why I like it because I can wear it with anything. A huge trend for spring is stripes so this shirt follows that trend in a subtle way. Hands down, my Brandy Melville cream sweater is my most worn sweater in my closet. It is so comfortable and provides extra warmth on a spring day. No matter what the season it is distressed denim in my must-haves. The best part about of these Just Black brand jeans is that they feel like leggings. They are so comfy and the distressed look definitely adds something to the outfit. I love my new Lucky Brand leather laced up boots. I found them on the clearance rank at Lord and Taylor’s and scored an amazing deal on them. I have a feeling these boots will be my go-to spring shoes because they feel lighter than a wintertime boot. The deep chestnut color will go great with any pair of jeans, skirts, or dresses. I kept my jewelry pretty simple. For earrings I am just wearing a pair of gold studs. For my necklace I am wearing my new gold elephant pendant necklace from Forever 21. I am obsessed with elephants because not only are they cute, but also they symbolize many virtues, including strength and luck.
It was a perfect day. With the warmish weather and the sun shining on my face, I felt rejuvenated. I am so happy to see the mounds of snow finally melting away. Here’s to a new season and the fashion that comes with it.
Best and Worst Dressed at the Grammy’s
My Sunday was full of studying because my statistic and psychology professor decided to schedule our first exam on the same day. To say I was stressed is an under statement. I had to spend the majority of my afternoon and night studying, which meant I couldn’t spend all night watching the 2015 Grammy’s. I always enjoy watching this award show, because it recognizes great talent in the music industry.
Since I couldn’t spend my Sunday night watching the Grammy’s, I decided to only watch the red carpet special. I deserved a 2-hour study break, right? It was well worth it because watching the stars walk down the red carpet is my favorite part of any awards show.
Once again, most of the stars strutted down the red carpet in bedazzled and embellished dresses. Just like with every major award shows, I have picked out the best and worst looks. So keep on reading to see who made my list.
Gwen Stefani- Hands down, Gwen Stefani was my favorite look of the night. Her semi-sheer jumpsuit by Atelier Versace looked great on the red carpet. I love the fit of jumpsuit. The sheer design on top and the tailored bottoms created a perfect silhouette. I love how she paired her jumpsuit with bedazzled pumps and of course her pulled back hair and neutral makeup tied the whole look together.
Jessie J- The color black was a popular color on the red carpet and Jessie J rocked this Ralph and Russo semi-sheered dress with beaded embellishments. The dress showed the right amount of skin and had the right amount of bling. I loved how dramatic this look was and how she chose to wear dark makeup and a dark lip. This look was very edgy, which is what I like to see, especially at an awards show.
Katy Perry- After seeing Katy Perry’s lilac hair, I am so tempted to dye my hair a beautiful, lilac shade. Her purple do complimented her silver beaded fringe dress by Zuhair Mudrad. Perry’s dress was eye-catching. The color, the beads, the fringe, and the purple hair certainly made a statement at the Grammy’s.
Lady Gaga- I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. Recently, she has been working with Tony Bennett, producing a whole new genre of music. Since Gaga has been working with Bennett she has been wearing more sophisticated outfits, which in my opinion is a great look for her. Although I do miss her crazy costumes, especially that meat dress she wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, I have enjoyed seeing Gaga’s style transformation. With that being said, I loved her Brandon Maxwell dress she wore to this year’s Grammy’s. The dress was elegant, but still incorporated a plunging neckline and high slits. I loved how Gaga accessorized with emerald colored jewelry and emerald colored makeup.
Charli XCX- I respect Charli XCX for taking a risk, but I just don’t like the color of her Moschino suit. The pale pink color and bright pink bowtie just doesn’t do it for me. Instead, if the suit was more of a neutral color, I would have liked it better.
Taylor Swift- Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t entirely hate Taylor Swift’s dress, I just felt like it was too formal for the occasion. Her turquoise high-low dress by Elie Sab just looked too stiff. I loved the color of her dress, her earrings, shoes, and eye shadow, but for me it was way too much color all paired together.
Kim Kardashian- Is it just me or did Kim Kardashian’s dress look like a bedazzled bath robe? Her dress designed by Jean Paul Gaultier had too much bling, making it a very distracting choice for the red carpet.
Ariana Grande- Ariana Grande’s Versace gown confused me. What’s the point of that piece of silver fabric that just appears to be hanging on the dress? Although I liked the silver and white color combo, the hanging fabric just puzzled me.
Dare to be different
Rihanna- I decided to add a new category to this post, a dare to be different category and that goes to Rihanna. Kudos to Rihanna for being different. Yes, her dress was crazy, but that is why I like it. She was not afraid to wear something out of the ordinary. Sure her dress looks like a loofah or an ad for Pepto Bismol, but it did a good job grabbing people’s attention, considering everyone can’t stop talking about it. Rihanna shows people that fashion is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and expressing yourself. I hope Rihanna has inspired other stars to take more risks on the red carpet.
That concludes my best and worst dressed celebs for the 2015 Grammy’s. I am looking forward writing a similar post for the Academy Awards, which airs on Sunday, February 22nd. Can’t wait to see which celebs dressed to impress.
Liv’s Style: Poncho? Sweater? Or Both?
Obviously, these photos were taking before winter storm Juno or the snowstorm this week that slammed the East coast. I miss seeing the grass because now all I see is piles and piles of snow. Although the weather has changed in the last couple weeks, my love for this outfit still remains the same.
Whenever I wear this outfit, I always confuse people. They look at me and they think I am wearing a sweater, but then at a different angle people think I am wearing a poncho. This poncho/sweater has been one of my favorite fashion pieces because it is different and causes peoples’ heads to turn. The best part about this poncho and sweater combo is how comfortable it is. It feels like I am wearing a blanket, keeping me warm on those frigid winter days. The cream and black colored tribal pattern and fringe detailing adds to the uniqueness of this piece.
I love pairing this sweater/poncho combo with my Madewell jeans. I can’t express how much I love these jeans. Ever since I bought these Madewell jeans, I have been wearing them non-stop. The light wash with distressed detailing makes them a versatile piece to pair with anything.
I threw on a pair of heeled boots and some of my favorite accessories and this outfit is complete.
Whenever I find a clothing item that has more flair and uniqueness than a typical Forever 21 piece, I feel like I’ve won the lottery. My hunt for more distinctive fashion pieces continues.

Liv’s Style: Motorcycle Chic
Immediately, when I got into the car to drive to my favorite park to capture photos, my mom looked at my outfit and said I look like I was ready to get on a motorcycle, hence the name motorcycle chic. I agreed with her because my outfit was quite dark and edgy. The leather jacket and tied up combat boots, gave my look a motorcycle vibe.
The leather jacket, dark gray high-waisted skinny jeans, and black combat boots weren’t just the star of the look. What really tied together the look and added some color to my outfit was my shirt, or should I say cropped sweatshirt. I am in love with the fit, color, and details of the cropped sweatshirt. In my opinion, it is perfectly cropped. Long enough to cover my stomach, but short enough to wear with high-waisted jeans or a skirt.
The cropped sweatshirt is from the online boutique, fevrie.com. On their site you will find some stylish and high-quality pieces for reasonable prices. I have great news for all my readers who are interested in shopping at fevrie.com. On my YouTube channel, I uploaded a giveaway video where one lucky winner can win a fevrie.com gift certificate. In the video, I also included an exclusive coupon code for all my viewers. Now all you have to do is go check out my YouTube channel, watch the video, and enter. It’s that easy!
This outfit was totally out of my comfort zone, which is why I like it so much. Fashion is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and expressing yourself. So whenever you feel like you’re in a fashion rut and sticking to the same type of style, throw on a leather jacket and your style is instantly transformed.

The Best and Worst at the Golden Globes
Happy awards season everyone! Tis’ the season for watching the Golden Globes, Grammy’s, and Academy Awards, just to name a few.
Last night I glued myself to the television to watch the Golden Globes, especially all the action on the red carpet. To be honest, I hardly knew any of the television shows or movies that were nominated; instead I was more interested in the fashion.
The most popular trend I saw last night was lots and lots of sparkle. Most dresses were neutral toned, including white, cream, and black, and then embellished with tons of sparkle and sequins.
While watching the Golden Globes, I was studying the celebs’ dresses and designers, so with that being said I have chosen my best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes.
Dakota Johnson- Dakota Johnson wore a beautiful silver, sparkly dress from Chanel’s fall 2014 couture line. Her metallic gown shined on the red carpet. I think the silver dress included the perfect balance of sparkle and fringe, as well as a slit that showed the right amount of leg.
Emma Stone- Who says you have to wear a dress to an award show? Emma Stone broke that rule by wearing a jumpsuit designed by Lanvin. Her top is covered in sequins and her pants are simple; however, in the back there is a big bow. The big bow is an unexpected detail. Her look was simple, but edgy. I give Emma Stone kudos for being different.
Siena Miller- This dress was anything but boring, especially with that plunging neckline. In my opinion, Siena Miller’s beaded Miu Miu gown was fresh and original. The jeweled detailing added an elegant touch.
Reese Witherspoon- Reese shimmered in a strapless, sparkly Calvin Klein gown. Her gown was glamorous, perfect for the fabulous evening. If I was invited to the Golden Globes, I would wear a dress similar to Reese Witherspoon.
Lorde- Lorde’s Narcisco Rodriquez suit and Neil Lane choker is the perfect way to make a bold statement at any awards show. Her midriff top added a feminine look to her menswear suit. Lorde impressed me with her daring choice to wear a suit. I believe that fashion is all about taking risks and Lorde certainly took a risk with her suit.
Keira Knightly- She should have stopped at the butterflies. There was no need to add the lace collar or lace trim. Her Chanel dress included a butterfly design and lace detailing. Without the lace, she would have been on the decently dressed list rather than the worst dressed list.
Kerry Washington- I have never been a big fan of the color-blocking trend, especially when pairing two opposite colors together. Her dress, designed by British designer Mary Karantzou, featured metallic colors, which in my opinion clashed.
Tina Fey- Tina Fey was a great co-host, but her dress was a miss. Her dress, designed by Antonio Berardi, did not flatter her body. I feel the puffy bottom made her look like a marshmallow, not a celebrity.
Lana Del Ray- Is that Little Mermaid on the red carpet? Her Travilla dress made her a look like a mermaid, and not in a good way. I believe the pleats and aqua color did not suit the red carpet.
That’s a wrap. Again, the Golden Globes never failed to impress. The next big award show is the Grammy’s, which airs on Sunday, February 8th. You better believe that I will be ranking the best and worst dressed for the Grammy’s. The celebrities better bring their A-game.
