Practicing Natural Ways To Care For Your Face

Have you tried everything to get flawless skin, but have found it to be one of the biggest mysteries in life? You are not alone.  No matter how much we put into finding the perfect products, they seem to work a little bit at the very outset but end up going straight in the garbage just as soon as the usual problems come back.  Looking after our face isn’t just about a skincare routine that is easy and beneficial, but it’s also about the other practices, namely being as natural as possible. While we all do our utmost to be as natural with our skin care, there are a few things that you may not know of that can benefit you.  Here are a few:

Do You Do Facial Exercises?

(Pexels)

It’s a relatively new practice, but it’s gained a lot of popularity in recent years. Instead of looking for the perfect product to minimize wrinkles, which can cause a hefty dent in our finances, undertaking a few simple exercises to tone and firm the face will give you the know-how on how to get rid of forehead lines, as well as firm your cheeks, tone your neck, and even prevent wrinkles around your mouth, one of the most obvious signs of aging.  Even if you don’t hit the gym, there’s no excuse to take 10 minutes out of your day to exercise your face.

How Much Of A Sun Worshipper Are You?

(Pexels)

We all love a bit of sunshine, but too much is going to have a devastating effect on our skin. Being exposed to sun gives us wrinkles, age spots, as well as long-term skin problems; you need to find the best sun care products that protect you.  Remember, even if it’s cloudy in the middle of the day, but the temperature is high, you can still get exposed to the effects of the san.  Be sure to put sunscreen on that has an SPF of at least 30 and when the reading the label, be sure it states that it’s a “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic” product because these won’t block your pores.

Do You Exercise?

(Pexels)

If you don’t exercise on a regular basis, you are not giving your body the means necessary to cleanse itself.  Remember, even if you have a perfect diet, but you don’t exercise, are you giving your body the opportunity to circulate blood, and detoxify itself?  A lot of people don’t like to sweat, but it’s the body’s natural way of purifying itself. So be sure to have a sweaty yoga session, or partake in some high-intensity interval training.  You could even lift weights, just as long as you are giving your body the opportunity to sweat everything out.  And even if you can’t exercise for health reasons, you can still go for a brisk walk around the block, or take the Norwegian approach, and get in a sauna.  No matter how healthy you are, if you don’t give your body the opportunity to cleanse and detoxify, these toxins will show up all over your skin and on your face.

How Much Water Do You Really Drink?

(Pexels)

Do you drink the required amount? And if you don’t know what the required amount is, at least 8 glasses will be enough to keep yourself hydrated.  Keeping your body hydrated will help to promote your skin’s natural elasticity, but you will also feel better as a result.  If you forget to drink water, the best way to get around this is to ensure you have a glass by you constantly, in the office, or at home. And as soon as it’s empty, fill it back up.  In addition to this, eating fruits or vegetables that are high in water content will top up your daily intake.  There’s a simple little test to check if you’re dehydrated; pinch the skin over the back of your hand, or on your abdomen.  If you are dehydrated, the skin will take its time to return to normal will highlight what is called skin turgor.

We spent a lot of time finding the right products, when in actual fact the best way to prevent the signs of aging, especially on your face, is to undertake the natural approach.  While a skincare routine is a great way to keep on top of specific issues, the underlying way to keep yourself healthy is to make sure you are indulging in healthy life practices.  It’s the normal things, making sure you have a balanced diet, looking after yourself, getting your beauty sleep, but it’s these things that will show up on your face.  A lifetime of stress and bad habits will show up as wrinkles and dehydration.  So, go the natural way, and keep up the practice.

My Everyday Makeup + Hair Routine ft. Bed Head by TIGI

Every morning, from Monday through Friday you will catch me rolling out of bed at 7:30 am (one of the perks of not needing to be in the office until 10:00), apply some makeup to cover up my sleepy eyes, get away with not washing my hair for another day with the help of dry shampoo, gather my breakfast, and I’m out of the house off to the train station to start my work day in the city.  Since I’ve been living the commuter lifestyle for the past few months, I have a few tips, tricks, and must have products I use every morning to make sure I look good, feel good, and most importantly get me to the train station on time.  So keep on reading to learn all about my go to makeup and hair routine and make sure you read all the way to the end for a special surprise!

For makeup, I stick with foolproof, easy applying makeup products.  Most of the items are long wearing which is what I need considering between the commute and work my days are 12 hours long.  Every morning I strive for a flawless face using BB cream, concealer, powder, bronzer, then perfect eyebrows with the help of a brow pencil to fill in my brows, a tinted brow gel to coat them evenly, and a bronze eye to bring out my green colored eyes with my favorite cream eyeshadow. I apply the eyeshadow effortlessly with my fingers (no brush needed).  Then a thin line of liquid liner and several coats of mascara and voilà makeup is done!

For my hair, I take my hair products very seriously, especially since I color my hair.  As such, I always look for products that protect hair color, while providing volume and all day shine and hold.  Recently, I found the perfect products to fit my hair needs.  Are you a fellow hair junkie like me?  Well look no further than Bed Head by TIGI hair products, the #1 styling brand globally.  Bed Head by TIGI has a huge range of products for all hair types.  The best part is that all products work perfectly together so why use one product when you can use several.  Trust me, they won’t weigh down your hair or make your hair look greasy.  For me, the more Bed Head by TIGI hair products I use the more my hair looks like I just came from the salon, even though I literally just rolled out of bed.

Since I can’t wash my hair every day, dry shampoo is a lifesaver, but not just any dry shampoo, a dry shampoo that doesn’t leave white powder residue but instead absorbs any excess oil and builds volume.  Meet the Bed Head by TIGI Rockaholic Dry Shampoo.  A couple of sprays of this on my hair and you wouldn’t even know it’s a second day or even a third day hair. But like I said why use one product when you can use two?  So before I head out the door I spray on the Bed Head by TIGI Headrush Shine Spray.  The super fine mist and lightweight formula doesn’t make your hair look greasy or wet but gives you a wonderful shine.

Once hair and makeup  are done, I grab my bag and I’m out the door for a busy day in the working world.

So now it’s time to reveal the big surprise (drum roll please)…I couldn’t be more excited to announce that I am representing Bed Head by TIGI at Her Campus College Fashion Week this Saturday in New York City.  I am honored to be attending this sold out event and representing the Bed Head by TIGI brand, who describe themselves as “true owner of creative styling anarchy.”  If you are one of the lucky ones who scored tickets before the fashion show sold out, I will see you there.  But for those who will not be attending, make sure to follow me on all social media for exclusive behind the scenes footage, the fashion show itself, my experience and crazy adventures that night.

In the mean time while you are anxiously awaiting my coverage of the Her Campus College Fashion Show head to Ulta Beauty or ulta.com for the best selection of Bed Head by TIGI products, so we can all achieve flawless hair no matter how much time you have. Talk to you all soon!

Make A Splash With Mermaid Makeup

People seem to be obsessed with all things fantasy these days, from unicorns to mermaids.  So today’s post will feature the oh so popular mermaid makeup look trend.  Since this look is so fun and colorful, it will be perfect for the upcoming festival season.  If you want to nail the mermaid makeup look, then this is the guide for you, so keep on reading.

Focus On A Flawless Base

Mermaids have a flawless base, always.  Well, we don’t know that for sure, but a flawless base is still going to help you rock this look.  Make sure you start with a good primer, foundation, and then conceal under your eyes and any other blemishes.  Tip: using a wet blending sponge is a good way to get a flawless, sheer finish.

Get Your Shimmer On

Mermaids are always beautiful and shimmery, so highlighter is huge for this look.  Give yourself a generous sweep of your favorite highlighter over your cheekbones, and down the center of your nose.  To really up your highlighter game, don’t be afraid to put a small amount of highlighter under the arch of your brow.  So flattering!

Choose The Right Colors

It seems like a mermaid’s favorite colors are those jewel toned colors. Think like yellow, blue, pink, purple, etc.  Use colors that remind you of the sea, but don’t be afraid to get creative.  Keep it bright!

Use An Iridescent Eyeshadow

There are so many iridescent products out there right now, like those from Jouer cosmetics and other great companies. Iridescent eyeshadow can be swept all over the lid to create the most gorgeous mermaid effect you’ve ever seen. Tip: wet your brush or finger first to get an even more intense look!

Do Something Different With Your Lips

Guess what?  Now, metallic, glittery,  iridescent lips are popular too!  You don’t have to follow this bold lip look if you don’t want to, but it’ll definitely help you to stand out even more for a festival or concert.

Make Your Eyebrows Stand Out

Who says you have to have boring brown or blonde eyebrows?  Make your eyebrows stand out by making them purple, or even green.  You can contrast them with your eyeshadow to create a really fun look!

Use Glitter and Sparkle

Use large pieces of glitter and sparkle to create an amazing mermaid look.  You can dab pieces under your eye and in the corner to get a super beautiful mermaid effect.

Get Creative With Shadows And Netting

If you really want to take the mermaid look to the next level, you can use netting and eyeshadows of different colors to create scales on your face.  Don’t cover your entire face; simply have some near your hairline and over your forehead to give yourself just enough scales to look like a  gorgeous mermaid.

I promise, if you use these tips you’ll make a splash with your mermaid makeup.  Every once was in a while it is fun to experiment with a colorful makeup look.  What are your thoughts about the mermaid makeup trend?  Have you rocked this look?  Let me know your thoughts below.  Talk soon!

Beauty Trends That Need To Go In 2017

It’s crazy to think that we are already 19 days into the New Year.  Anyway, I was so overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received from my Fashion Trends That Need To Go In 2017 post (if you haven’t read it yet, click here).  After reading all your interesting comments, I decided to write a similar post, this time reflecting on the outrageous beauty trends in 2016 that I hope won’t roll over into 2017.  I know 2016 is now in the past and we should be moving forward, but I can’t help to point out the beauty trends in 2016 that in my opinion were far from glamorous.  Keep on reading for the beauty trends that need to go in 2017.

100 layers challenge

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Please tell me you have seen the 100 layers challenge videos on YouTube.  You know, the videos where someone proceeds to layer on absurd amounts of makeup on their face, eyes, lips, and nails.  If you have no idea what I am talking about check out Jenna Marbles 100 layers challenge video.  After watching her apply layers of false eyelashes, tanner, nail polish, foundation, lip color, and hair spray you will be left shocked.  After watching all these 100 layer challenge videos on YouTube, I can’t help but to think how do these people have this much time to kill for applying ridiculous amounts of makeup. I barely have time to apply one layer of my daily makeup routine, let alone 100 layers.  Also, this beauty fad just is so bad for your skin and nails.  I sometimes break out when I apply a little amount of foundation, what would happened if I smeared layers upon layers of foundation on my skin?  Whether people are just doing this to rack up views on YouTube or actually wearing these looks in public, I hope we will ditch the 100 layers challenge and realize that a little bit of makeup goes a long way.

 Contouring overload

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Kind of similar to the 100 layers challenge, but although you are not applying 100 layers of makeup to your skin, you are still applying unreasonable amounts of bronzer and highlight to your face for that perfect contour look.  Once again, who has the time to spend strategically blending powder all over their face to highlight cheekbones or make their nose look smaller.  To me, contouring is just used to cover up your natural features.  Maybe I would be into this trend if I was Kim Kardashian and had time to sit in a makeup chair while a professional makeup artist does my contouring and highlighting.  But, for right now I will stick to my occasional use of bronzer and highlighter when I have extra time in the morning and looking for ways to tune up my makeup game.

 Fake freckles

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Don’t get me wrong, I think makeup is a form of art, so I love seeing elaborate and colorful makeup looks on the runway.  But when you are incorporating fake freckles into your every day makeup look that is where I have a problem.  I have seen many designers using the fake freckle makeup trend on their models and it looks beautiful, but I do not think I can get away with walking around my very preppy campus with fake freckles.  But, if you are looking to make a statement, go ahead embrace this trend, but for me it is a little to crazy for me to wear everyday, except if I am walking on the runway or in a cool editorial photo shoot.

Intense nail art

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Whenever I either paint my nails at home or get my nails done at a salon, my nails chip within 24 hours.  If you don’t need to use your hands at all, then you can pull off having flowers or fur on your nails.  But, I can just imagine what my nails would look like after a day with a crazy manicure like the ones shown above.  Between going to class, using my computer, going to the gym, cooking dinner, and all my other daily activities, I can only handle a single color manicure and just expect it to chip within a day.

Pink eye shadow

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I hate to put this makeup trend on my list because I am aware that a huge trend for 2017 whether in fashion or makeup is the color pink. I am not a pink girl, but I am trying to gradually incorporate different hues of the shade into my wardrobe.  However, I have not jumped on the pink eye shadow makeup trend yet.  Something about bright pink eye shadow on my lids just makes my eyes look like I have a nasty eye infection.  I don’t want to walk around with pink eye makeup and people think I have pink eye because that is never a good look.  I should be more open to trying new makeup looks, so if you have any subtle pink eye shadow makeup looks let me know, because if the look is easy to recreate and not to bright, I am willing to give it a try.

 No makeup makeup look

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I feel like I am now contradicting myself because I just hated on all those exotic makeup looks, now I am hating on a natural makeup look.  To be honest, I am not hating on the “no makeup makeup look,” I am really hating on the title because let’s get real when celebrities claim they are not wearing makeup, they usually are wearing some sort of moisturizer, concealer, blush, or even fake lashes, so how can they say they are not wearing makeup?  I think the recent article published on the website Mic, perfectly sums up my thoughts on this trend.  By using the phrase “no makeup makeup look,” it is an oxymoron because like I said usually these looks require some sort of product.  If you really want to embrace the no makeup makeup look, wake up, wash your face, and head out the door, now that is the ultimate all natural and fresh look.

I think I am done recapping trends from last year, now it is time to look forward and start analyzing the trends for 2017.  Can’t wait for the upcoming New York Fashion Week shows.  I am very hopeful this years trends will be spot on.  Let me know in the comments below if there were any beauty trends in 2016 that you were not a big fan of.  I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.  I hope everyone is having a great start to 2017.  Talk to you all soon!

The Lazy College Girl Skincare Routine ft. Clarisonic

This morning, I hit an all time low. I was applying my makeup, getting ready for the day and all of a sudden I remembered I did not brush my teeth. I can’t believe it. I blame the lack of sleep and everything on my mind other than dental hygiene.

As you can tell by this situation, I am a typical busy, scattered brain college girl. I hate to admit this but it seems like when I am crunched for time, my skincare routine suffers. I’d rather use my time responding to emails, writing blog posts, finishing up class assignments, and socializing then spending time in front of the mirror. I wish I can say that I am one of those girls who set an hour aside before bedtime to apply all sorts of moisturizers and serums under my eyes and around my face, but sadly I am not. I realize that taking care of your skin at an early age will benefit your skin in the future, so I try to find ways to help my skin in a short amount of time. Say hello to the Clarisonic Deep Pore Mia set.

img_4910

img_4925

So far, I am in love with my Clarisonic cleansing device. Not only does it make my skin look great, but also it only takes 60 seconds to achieve a fresh, clean face. The Clarisonic Deep Pore Mia 2 set includes a Mia 2 device, Deep Pore Daily Cleanser, Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask, and a Deep Pore Brush Head. All the essentials you need for great looking skin. The sonic cleansing device features two speeds, making it suitable for all skin types and the two speeds really work better at cleaning your skin than your hands alone.

img_4915

img_4923

Usually, every night I apply the daily face cleanser to the brush head and let the Mia do its work for 60 seconds. When I have a little extra time at night, I love applying the Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask for 10-15 minutes and then use the Mia 2 device to remove even more impurities for healthier looking skin.

img_4938

After using my Clarisonic device for over a month now, I now understand why the Clarisonic devices are the #1 most recommended skin cleansing devices by dermatologists. No matter how busy your days and nights can be, we all have at least one minute to dedicate to our skin. No need for a fancy, complicated skin care routine because all you need is the Clarisonic Deep Pore Mia 2 set for radiant looking skin.

It’s never to late to make a change to your skin care routine. What are you waiting for? So go ahead, buy yourself one (Use the code HERCAMPUS to get a 15% off coupon code), or put it on your holiday gift list, or gift it to friends for birthdays or the upcoming holidays. There is nothing better than having clean and clear looking skin without sacrificing tons of time. Let me know in the comments below if you use any Clarisonic products. I would love to hear your thoughts. Talk to you all in my next post.

Currently Loving

When YouTube was my main platform, one of my favorite videos to film was my monthly favorites. I always looked forward to the end of any month to collect all of my favorite products and review them for my viewers. If you want to catch a glimpse of a younger Liv in one of my Youtube videos, click here. It is always fun to take a trip back to the past. Anyway back to the present. It didn’t occur to me until one of my blogging brainstorm sessions that I should bring my monthly favorites posts to the LivForStyle blogging community, so that is exactly what I am doing in today’s post.

IMG_2299
First, I want to talk about the makeup palette that has been front and center of my makeup collection. The Make Up Forever Artist Palette Volume 1 in the color Nudes You Need has been my go-to for all of my makeup looks. This palette features nine neutral toned colors, making it a staple to achieve neutral day-time looks or smokey, darker looks. Not only does this palette feature my favorite eye shadow colors, like gold, bronze, copper, and pewter, but the formula of each shade is super pigmented and blendable.

IMG_2311
Next, to accent the beautiful bronze shades, I have been ditching my typical black liquid eyeliner and using my new Tarte Clay Pot Waterproof Liner. This gel liner applies like butter, as it smoothly glides on my upper lash line. If you’re a bronze makeup lover like me, you need this gel liner in your collection.

IMG_2319

The cold, dry air has really wreaked havoc on my skin. I usually never noticed my dry, rough skin until all my makeup is wiped away and I am ready for bed. So, a night face cream has been an important part of my nightly routine. I apply my Lumixyl Trifecting Night Cream before bed so while I am sleeping this product can get hard at work moisturizing my skin, fighting blemishes, and reducing fine lines. Finding a good face cream is important, but even more important is finding a good face cream that is made with only the best ingredients. This winter, I have vowed to treat my skin with only the best products, because after all our skin is the biggest organ of our body (decided to throw in something I learned in my biology class today, my professor would be so proud). If you are interested in purchasing one of Lumixyl’s wonderful products, click the link here to receive 25% off your purchase of TNC, using the code TNCxSW on lovelyskin.com. This offer expires 2/18. A deal you won’t want to miss.

IMG_2323

Keeping with the face theme, I have been using Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour Palette to contour, define, and highlight my cheeks. The bronzer, blush, highlight trio is perfect for busy people like me because it provides all the products you need to achieve a radiant glow in one palette. I have never been into blush, but for the winter time, I noticed a little color and sparkle is what I need to brighten up winters pale skin.

IMG_2317
Lastly, to wash all my makeup off at night I’ve been using Garnier’s Micellar Water. I have to admit I was persuaded to buy this new face wash after I saw the catchy commercial on television. I am so glad I decided to swoop this up on a recent drugstore shopping trip because it is the best way to wash off makeup and cleanse your skin. Good-bye makeup, oil, and dirt. Hello clean, soft, hydrated skin.

IMG_2325

And there you have it…a round up of my current favorite items. I’m like a kid in a candy shop whenever I am in the drugstore, Sephora, or whenever the UPS man drops off a package. I never know what to expect or what I am going to find. So you better believe that there will be more of my current obsessions posts very soon. Let me know in the comments below what has been your go-to makeup product or clothing item for this month.

Holiday Party Survival Guide

The holiday season is in full swing. Christmas music is blasting wherever you go. Stores are packed with holiday shoppers. Homes are decorated with Christmas lights and grocery stores are sampling their favorite holiday treats. The holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be quite stressful. What to wear? What to give? What to serve? You’re not alone because all these questions run through my mind this time of year. Even though, I can’t go shopping with you personally, help you decorate, or help you entertain, I can provide a few tips for you to look great at your upcoming holiday festivities. So, with help from Ulta Beauty and my love of makeup, let’s see if we can lessen a little bit of your holiday stress.

My favorite makeup look for the holiday season is classic and effortless; matte eye shadows, winged eyeliner, and a red lip. If this is the look you want to achieve for the holidays, you will need my must have products, including the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, L’Oreal liquid eyeliner, and Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in the color Velvet. All of these items can be found at your nearest Ulta Beauty store. The Urban Decay palette has the perfect variety of matte eyes shadows to create a simple eye look that won’t compete with the winged eyeliner and red lip. Creating the perfect winged eyeliner look can be challenging. It requires a steady hand, patience, and the L’Oreal Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner. This eyeliner creates an intense black line and gives you enough control to flick out the line for the perfect cat eye shape. You can’t do the holidays without sporting a red lip, but who has time to keep reapplying your favorite red lipstick. The Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick is a liquid lipstick with a long-wear formula, high shine, and super rich color.

Now that your eyes and lips look great, it’s time to focus on your nails. Whether it’s a holiday party or some other festive event, a sparkly manicure is a must. I’m obsessed with the color Comet Closer by OPI. This textured gold shade is part of their new Starlight collection. A sparkly gold nail color will go with any outfit and surely catch the eye of all the partygoers.

Who doesn’t like to smell wonderful? So, it’s important to keep a rollerball perfume in your purse and do a little spritz throughout the day and night. I love the Pink Sugar Rollerball for its sweet smell of cotton candy, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, and orange.

When you are running to back-to-back holiday gatherings, it is important to keep your makeup fresh. For this I keep the NYX Blemish Control Blotting Paper in my purse and use it throughout the day and night to reduce shine and ensure my makeup stays flawless.

And when the holidays are over and you finally have time to catch your breath and relax, slip on your Body Benefits Aloe-Infused Lounge Socks to heal your sore and tired feet from all the days and nights of wearing heels. These socks are made from aloe extract to soothe and hydrate.

Screen Shot 2015-12-01 at 9.56.05 AMI hope you all enjoyed my holiday survival guide. Ulta Beauty is your one-stop shop for all your holiday beauty gifts, whether for you, friends, or family. The holidays will be over before we know it, so it is important to stay present, enjoy the time with family and friends. Don’t let the stress get in the way of the true meaning of the holidays.

A Few Of My Favorite Things: Jamberry Nails

You will never find me without nail polish on my fingernails. No matter how busy I am, I always find time once a week to paint my nails. Call me weird, but I find sitting down and giving myself a manicure so relaxing.

For those who don’t know, I am part of my university’s chapter of Her Campus. According to the Her Campus website, “Her Campus is the #1 global community for college women”. I am very excited to be the style section editor and writer for my campus chapter. As a result of this role, I have received many great opportunities. Being part of Her Campus has definitely sharpened my journalistic skills, but hands down the best part of Her Campus is going to events on my campus that are hosted by many different companies. Not only are these events fun to attend for team bonding but also it allows me to be introduced to new companies and the awesome products they offer.

Recently, our Her Campus team hosted a Jamberry nail party, where the brand Jamberry brought their 300+ nail designs to our campus. Ever since being introduced to Jamberry nails my nails have looked so stylish.

Jamberry nails are similar to the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Stick On Nails, but in my opinion Jamberry nails last longer, look more “real”, and come in a huge variety of colors and patterns. Not to mention you get more for your buck. A sheet of Jamberry nails will allow you two manicures and two pedicures for only $15. To me that’s a bargain compared to most stick on nails that are around $10-$12 for only one manicure.

The patterns that I have been wearing include Reminisce and Sugar & Spice. I have been using my Jamberry nails for a couple weeks now and so far I am very pleased with the results. They don’t chip or flake, and I can’t stress how stylish they are. No wonder why Jamberry nails have been featured in magazines like Instyle, People Style Watch, Marie Claire, Nylon, and so much more.

As you can tell, I can’t stop raving about the formula and patterns but you might be wondering how well do they apply? Good news, Jamberry nails don’t take tons of time to apply.

First, prep your nails by filing them and rub a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on each of your nails. Next, match your nail with the best fit from your Jamberry nail sheet, heat with a blow dryer to make it tacky, then apply it to the nail, cut off the excess and file off the rest. Lastly, take your blow dryer and heat your nail again, making sure your Jamberry nail is securely on your nail. Voilà! You are done. I promise it is so simple once you get the hang of it.

The people at Jamberry nails are not lying when they describe this new approach to manicures and pedicures as a “nail revolution.” Say goodbye to boring single colored manicures and say hello to Jamberry nails.

Current Beauty Obsessions

No shock here that I have some beauty products that I have been obsessing over. These last couple of weeks, I have been using the new palettes that I got for Christmas. I also feel like many drugstore brands have released new items, so whenever I go to the drugstore I am drawn to the new displays. I love getting new makeup because whenever I use new makeup I feel like a new person. Keep on reading to see the products that I can’t get enough of.

(Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal Camouflage ConcealerMaybelline Color ElixirTartelette Amazonian Clay Matte PaletteUrban Decay Vice 3 Palette)

Once again, Santa listened to me this year. The Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette was one of the makeup items on my Christmas wish list. To my surprise, one of the gifts I opened on Christmas morning was the beautiful Urban Decay palette. Urban Decay never fails to impress me. Ever since receiving this palette, it has played a major role in my daily makeup routine. This palette has a variety of finishes, including matte, satin, sparkle, and metallic. I really like how this palette offers the perfect balance of neutral shades and jewel toned colors. I have been experimenting with all the gorgeous shades in this palette. I love doing more of a neutral color on the lid, like the color Truth, and adding a pop of color to my crease and outer corner, like the color Alchemy.

 IMG_7690

I must have been a very good girl because Santa left another palette under the tree, the Tartelete Amazonian Clay Matte Palette. Who doesn’t love matte eye shadows? Matte eye shadows are great for a neutral look. I love using these matte eye shadows for a simple look and then doing more of dramatic eyeliner, like winged eyeliner or colorful eyeliner on the bottom lash line. So far my favorite colors in this palette include, Free Spirit, Super Mom, Wanderer, and Dreamer, but as you can see this palette offers a variety of colors for different looks, so the possibilities are endless.

 IMG_7687

For those sleepless nights, concealer is a must to cover those dark circles under your eyes and any imperfections. Like I said, so many drugstore brands have released tons of new products. Maybelline has revealed a new line of concealers, foundations, and primers. I am in love with the new Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal Camouflage concealer. It really does camouflage any imperfections and brighten up your under eye area. Another plus is that the texture is creamy so it makes it easy to blend. I trust that the full coverage of this concealer will last all day and conceal any of those flaws.

Everyone needs a red lipstick in their makeup collection. Red lipstick is the perfect shade to wear if you want to make a statement. I have been wearing a lot of red lip shades during the holiday season and the winter season to add some color to my look. If you are still looking for a perfect red lipstick, I highly recommend the Maybelline Color Elixir in the shade Signature Scarlet. I am a huge fan of the Color Elixirs because they look and feel like a melted lipstick. The formula is smooth and hydrating, so it won’t dry out your lips. The color is very pigmented, so you don’t have to worry about touching up your lips every hour. The color, Signature Scarlet, is a true red, not to light, not to dark. Since the winter months can be drab, it is a perfect time to experiment with a bright, bold lip.
