Practicing Natural Ways To Care For Your Face

Have you tried everything to get flawless skin, but have found it to be one of the biggest mysteries in life? You are not alone.  No matter how much we put into finding the perfect products, they seem to work a little bit at the very outset but end up going straight in the garbage just as soon as the usual problems come back.  Looking after our face isn’t just about a skincare routine that is easy and beneficial, but it’s also about the other practices, namely being as natural as possible. While we all do our utmost to be as natural with our skin care, there are a few things that you may not know of that can benefit you.  Here are a few:

Do You Do Facial Exercises?

It’s a relatively new practice, but it’s gained a lot of popularity in recent years. Instead of looking for the perfect product to minimize wrinkles, which can cause a hefty dent in our finances, undertaking a few simple exercises to tone and firm the face will give you the know-how on how to get rid of forehead lines, as well as firm your cheeks, tone your neck, and even prevent wrinkles around your mouth, one of the most obvious signs of aging.  Even if you don’t hit the gym, there’s no excuse to take 10 minutes out of your day to exercise your face.

How Much Of A Sun Worshipper Are You?

We all love a bit of sunshine, but too much is going to have a devastating effect on our skin. Being exposed to sun gives us wrinkles, age spots, as well as long-term skin problems; you need to find the best sun care products that protect you.  Remember, even if it’s cloudy in the middle of the day, but the temperature is high, you can still get exposed to the effects of the san.  Be sure to put sunscreen on that has an SPF of at least 30 and when the reading the label, be sure it states that it’s a “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic” product because these won’t block your pores.

Do You Exercise?

If you don’t exercise on a regular basis, you are not giving your body the means necessary to cleanse itself.  Remember, even if you have a perfect diet, but you don’t exercise, are you giving your body the opportunity to circulate blood, and detoxify itself?  A lot of people don’t like to sweat, but it’s the body’s natural way of purifying itself. So be sure to have a sweaty yoga session, or partake in some high-intensity interval training.  You could even lift weights, just as long as you are giving your body the opportunity to sweat everything out.  And even if you can’t exercise for health reasons, you can still go for a brisk walk around the block, or take the Norwegian approach, and get in a sauna.  No matter how healthy you are, if you don’t give your body the opportunity to cleanse and detoxify, these toxins will show up all over your skin and on your face.

How Much Water Do You Really Drink?

Do you drink the required amount? And if you don’t know what the required amount is, at least 8 glasses will be enough to keep yourself hydrated.  Keeping your body hydrated will help to promote your skin’s natural elasticity, but you will also feel better as a result.  If you forget to drink water, the best way to get around this is to ensure you have a glass by you constantly, in the office, or at home. And as soon as it’s empty, fill it back up.  In addition to this, eating fruits or vegetables that are high in water content will top up your daily intake.  There’s a simple little test to check if you’re dehydrated; pinch the skin over the back of your hand, or on your abdomen.  If you are dehydrated, the skin will take its time to return to normal will highlight what is called skin turgor.

We spent a lot of time finding the right products, when in actual fact the best way to prevent the signs of aging, especially on your face, is to undertake the natural approach.  While a skincare routine is a great way to keep on top of specific issues, the underlying way to keep yourself healthy is to make sure you are indulging in healthy life practices.  It’s the normal things, making sure you have a balanced diet, looking after yourself, getting your beauty sleep, but it’s these things that will show up on your face.  A lifetime of stress and bad habits will show up as wrinkles and dehydration.  So, go the natural way, and keep up the practice.

Jump (suit) Into The Week

All week I spend the days eagerly waiting for the weekend and when the weekend finally arrives, I blink and then it’s Monday again.  Anyone else feel the same way?  Well I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend, I know I did by exploring Central Park and visiting new, trendy restaurants in the West Village and Soho with friends.

Ever since moving to the city, I feel like I have to be stylish 24/7 and even when I do “dress up” I’m always envious of everyone’s outfits in the city. Although, I don’t feel nearly as fashionable as everyone else in the city, whenever I am looking to amp up my fashion game, I’ve been wearing this stylish one piece featured in today’s style post on repeat.  Keep on scrolling to read all about my love for jumpsuits this summer.

So for those living under a fashion rock, a jumpsuit is pretty much a romper, but instead of shorts like a romper, a jumpsuit features pants, so basically it’s just a connecting, coordinating pant suit.  These matching one pieces are the best because you don’t have to worry about matching two pieces of clothing. I’m still in shock that my jumpsuit is from Target because it certainly looks like it’s made by a more high end brand, especially because it features a beautiful, bold floral pattern, an open back, a deep V neckline, and a fun tassel detail.  Also, as I continue to expand my jumpsuit collection, I always look for jumpsuits with a sort of cinch in waist to give it more shape and break up any bold pattern.

As I mentioned above, this jumpsuit has sort of a low neckline, so I wanted to wear a statement necklace, so my neck didn’t look so bare.  I decided on my mixed metal, spiked, short necklace from the brand Design Lab.  Since my jumpsuit is head to toe flowers, I wanted to add some edge to this look and that’s why I chose spikes.

Now that the weather is finally starting to feel like summer, I’ve abandoned long sleeve sweaters and shirts, and so now that my arms and wrists are exposed, I chose to wear a bunch of my favorite gold bangles from Forever 21 and of course my customized charm bracelet by Cosa™. Read more about my love for my Cosa™ cuff here.

For shoes, I like to wear a little heel with a jumpsuit for some extra height, so I settled on my black wedge sandals from Payless.

Lastly, to add a little extra dose of chicness to my look, I am wearing my London Fog circular sunglasses.

Well that’s all for today’s style post, folks! I hope everyone has a great start to their week. Talk to you all in my next post!
