Subtle Pops Of Color

Hello again.  So sorry for my absence on my blog.  For all of those who don’t know I decided to go blonde and I was to busy testing out the theory if blondes do have more fun.  Just kidding (well half kidding).  I did dye my hair blonde but I have been super busy with school work. Being a second semester junior is not easy.  But now I have more time for my blog and fun things, so I will get back to you on the theory if blondes do have more fun.

I am so excited to show you another one of my favorite outfits, as well as debut my new blonde doo.  Now that the weather is changing, I am even more inspired to experiment with new clothing and trends, and of course go shopping.

Today’s look is an outfit I would wear to class or wear for a night out. I love putting together outfits that can be worn in different scenarios.  I love the subtle pops of color in my outfit. After all, that is what the spring season is all about; driving or walking about and seeing random pops of colorful flowers blooming.

I am obsessing over my loose, flowing tunic from SHEIN.  I love the black and white mosaic pattern with subtle hints of blue.  Looking to revamp your spring wardrobe? Head over to SHEIN for high-quality, fashionable clothing. You will get lost on their website browsing the selection of tops, sweaters, dresses, rompers, shoes, accessories, and more.

To compliment the black and white in my blouse, I decided to wear my new Zara skinny jeans. I love the fit of these jeans and the color of the denim is very unique.  Remember denim doesn’t just have to be shades of blue, so try experimenting with different colors.

A huge shoe trend for Spring 2016 is oxford shoes.  I am slowly incorporating this trend into my look, but it is hard to get used to these oxford shoes because they remind me of the shoes I used to wear from elementary to high school with my school uniform.  I have to get over that association because these flats are super trendy.  I am wearing my charcoal color lace up oxford flats from DSW.  Oxford flats can be easily worn in the day and then transitioned to the evening.  They are fancier than just your basic pair of flats.

For jewelry, I have added more color to my look by wearing a turquoise stone ring.  This ring is actually from my grandma, so it’s special, authentic, and vintage.  When I am in the mood to wear rings, my grandma’s pieces are my go-to.

It feels great to be back in the blogging world and to be a blonde blogger.  How do you all like my hair?  Hope you are all enjoying the first few weeks of spring.  Go outside, embrace the new season, and of course the new fashion trends.

Street Style

When temperatures rise above 60 degrees, it is the perfect day to walk the streets of New York City and explore Central Park. If this warm weather pattern continues, it is safe to say that spring has sprung. Nothing was better than welcoming the warm weather than being in New York City. I had a wonderful time visiting all my favorite shops uptown and having a nice picnic lunch in the sun, sitting on one of the massive rocks in Central Park. Best part about this trip to the city was that I didn’t have to plan my outfit around my winter coat. I hope I can retire my heavy winter coat for the season. I decided to “dress down” and showcase my casual style, what I like to call my street style, since a day in New York City consists of strolling up or down your favorite streets and avenues.

Don’t expect too much from this post. I’m just giving you the details of my outfit because I was not planning on doing an outfit post until my mom insisted on taking a few photos with my phone and then “BAM” I turned this into a quick post.

This season, I am trying to experiment with different denim because denim does not only have to be skinny jeans, so I decided to break out my favorite Madewell boyfriend jeans. Remember them from this post back in the summer? It was so warm out I could have easily gotten away with wearing a dress, but I am not ready to show the world my pale winter legs, maybe next time. I paired my distressed denim with a lightweight sweater from Forever 21, tucked in, to give my look a slouchy, laid-back vibe. To turn my sweater from boring to more exciting, I am wearing my new springtime scarf from Madewell. I love the bright coral color and the fringe tassels. To incorporate the pattern mixing trend, I chose to introduce a new pattern to my outfit by adding my leopard slip on sneakers from Target. Lastly, because I was doing some shopping, my cross-body bag from Fossil was a necessity. Everyone always gives me a puzzled look when they see this bag. They always wonder if it is portraying a face. That is the beauty of art and fashion; it all depends on the individuals’ interpretation.

I can’t wait to style some of the new pieces I bought on my recent New York City shopping trip. Just a heads up, the next time you see me on my blog, I might be blonde. I’ve been a little bored of late and have been thinking of trying something bold and different. What would you think of me as going platinum blonde? After all, life is to short to be boring. Talk to you all soon!

The Best And Worst Dressed At The Academy Awards 2016

The end of February means a few things… spring break is near, it stays light longer, no more snow (hopefully), and most importantly the Academy Awards.  I sometimes get the Sunday night blues, but not on the Sunday when the Academy Awards are on.

This year, I was surprised at how many movies I knew.  Honestly, I did not see one movie nominated but I knew the plot and the characters, so that’s all that counts right?  Fashion aside, I am so happy Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar; it was about time, but for some reason, I had a feeling he was not going to win (anyone else have that same feeling?).  Although, I did not stay up to see him accept his award, I checked Twitter when I randomly woke up in the middle of the night at 3 A.M. and was so pleased he was the winner.

Now back to fashion. I have to admit I was not overly impressed with the looks on the red carpet. Nothing blew me away, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a best and worst dressed list, so below you will find my picks of celebrities who scored a 10 on their fashion game and who completely missed the mark.

Best Dressed:

Jennifer Lawrence-  J. Law has done it again. Another red carpet looked she nailed.  Her flesh tone gown with black lace overlay by Dior was perfect for such a glamorous event like the Oscars.  Plus her minimal accessories and blonde bob really tied her whole look together.  Her new blonde doo, has really inspired me to dye my hair that shade.  Who knows maybe in my next post, I will be a blonde.

Charlize Theron-  Va va voom. I f I had Charlize’s confidence I would totally be modeling that bright red Dior dress with a really deep neckline.  Her plunging neckline almost exposes her belly button, but stops at the perfect length, leaving a little to the imagination.  Plus her diamond necklace adds just the right amount of bling, without drawing to much attention from the dress.  Who says you can’t wear red on the red carpet?  Charlize totally puts that myth to rest.

Lady Gaga-  I think Lady Gaga just started a new trend with her look, the pant dress.  Her Brandon Maxwell cream color pantsuit really pops on the red carpet.  She looks so classy.  Plus her minimal jewelry really allows her pantsuit to shine.  Lastly, her bronze smoky eye is the perfect touch to her look. You never fail to amaze me Lady Gaga.

Rachel McAdams –
Two words to describe Rachel’s look are fierce and sexy.  I am obsessed with her August Getty Ateiler emerald colored dress.  By now, you should know that any emerald color dress will steal my heart.  The halter neckline and high slit was perfect for the red carpet.  Her look was the right amount of sexiness and glamour.

Naomi Watts- Naomi’s Armani Prive dress reminds me of the most gorgeous starry night sky.  The royal blue and deep purple shades shined on the red carpet.  In my opinion, one trend that will never go out of style on the red carpet is crystals and sequins.

Saoirise Ronan- If I only had to choose one best-dressed celeb on the red carpet, it would go to Saoirise.  I am obsessed with her emerald, sparkling dress by Calvin Klein.  Just like Naomi Watts she is rocking the sequins trend, and just like Rachel McAdams she looks stunning in the emerald shade.  Plus, Saoirise’s emerald accessories and green smokey eye really puts the finishing touches on her look.  If I had the privilege to walk the red carpet, you better believe that my dress would look very similar to Saorise’s look.

Margot Robbie – Margot’s body forming, gold snakeskin, Tom Ford dress reminds be of the trophy the lucky Academy Award winners bring home.  So it makes sense that her shiny gold dress with a deep, plunging neckline made my top dressed list.

Worst Dressed:

Heidi Klum-  Yes, the purple hues of did clash with the red carpet, but it wasn’t the color of her dress that bothered me the most, it was that awkward puffy one sleeve detail.  Plus, the two floral decals did not help the look, but made the eye drawn to the unfortunate details of the dress.  Heidi’s Versace dress just needs to shed all the layers and then maybe I will reconsider the look.

Kate Winslet-  Of course, when I am collecting my thoughts on my best and worst dressed list, I like to read other fashion articles to hear their opinions.  I have to agree with USA Today when they described Kate’s Ralph Lauren dress as a “wet garbage bag.”  Plus her reflective dress does not photograph well. Better luck next time!

Reese Witherspoon-  The reason why Reese made my worst dressed list is because her Oscar de la Renta dress was just so plain and boring.  I feel like I have seen this dress so many times.  Plus the tailoring of the dress did not fit her body.  Reese is such a beautiful woman that she could rock almost anything.  I wish she took the time to really step out of her fashion comfort zone and try something new and fresh.

Cate Blanchett-  Her Armani dress could have worked if it was just a different color.  I give her props for taking a risk and wearing a dress that did make her stand out from the crowd.  Her dress is high-fashion especially with the hand-sewn flowers, feathers, and crystals.  But, I believe the pastel blue just makes her look like one of those Peep marshmallow Easter candies.  Maybe if her dress was black or a deep burgundy color it would have worked.  Maybe I just inspired Armani?

Kerry Washington-  Kerry’s Versace dress leaves me confused.  Is the top of the dress made of leather? What are those awkward black lines by her waist?  This dress was not made for the red carpet of the Academy Awards.  I did like her fierce thigh-high leg slit, but wish she wore a totally different dress. Kerry totally missed the mark while combining glam and edginess.

Olivia Wilde-  I give her props for showing all that skin.  I do like Olivia’s Valentino dress, but the reason why it is on my worst list is because of all the skin exposed.  She should have stuck to either showing her back, side boob, or the deep neckline.  Not all three.  Plus that chocker just attracts the eyes to her cleavage, which is not the point of the Oscars.  If this dress had a few tailing adjustments it would be moved to my best list.

Emily Blunt –  Maybe I am biased because no matter how hard I try I can’t pull off blush shades, but I feel like it is such a hard color for anyone to pull off and Emily Blunt was no exception.  The light, pastel pink just washes her out and the random pops of diamonds throughout her dress was just awkward and not visually appealing.  Her Prada designed dress was just not flattering from head to toe.

And that’s a wrap.  Thank you so much for reading.  I love sharing my thoughts with you all. Let me know who made your best and worst dressed list for the 2016 Academy Awards.
